Texas suspects illegals buried in mass graves
South Texas lawmaker: Immigrants' mass graves are a crime

CORPUS CHRISTI - A South Texas lawmaker has asked the Department of Public Safety to secure a Brooks County cemetery as a crime scene after the discovery of mass graves of unidentified immigrants.
“There is no doubt that a crime has taken place, and we need to protect the site to prevent any evidence from being damaged, tampered with, or destroyed,” said Rep. Terry Canales, D-Edinburg, in a statement issued during the weekend. “Just as important, we need to send the message to the world that in our state, we do not stain the honor of loved ones who have passed away.”
The Texas Rangers plan to meet with local officials Monday to determine the proper course of action.
Canales’ request follows similar remarks by state Sen. Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa, D-McAllen, who called for a state investigation into the mass graves .
Researchers working on a project to identify immigrants who die entering the United States said they exhumed 52 graves in the Sacred Heart Burial Park in Falfurrias in early June.
They couldn’t immediately count how many people were buried because the remains were intermingled. They found instances of multiple people in one body bag, bones buried in trash bags, and bones buried in no container at all, said Lori Baker, an anthropologist at Baylor University. Last year the researchers exhumed 110 bodies as part of the same project. They expect to exhume remains from a third section of the cemetery in 2015. Grave markers and markings on body bags indicated the remains were placed there between 2005 and 2012. County officials say that for as long as they can remember, the local funeral home, Funeraria del Angel Howard-Williams, was paid to handle burials of unidentified immigrants.
Grave markers bore the funeral home’s logo, and one set of bones was buried in a kitchen garbage bag tucked inside a gift bag bearing the Dignity Memorial logo, one of the brands belonging to the home’s parent company, Houston-based Service Corp. International. The company said it is reviewing records but could not confirm that the funeral home was involved in the mass burials.
Canales said he has asked the Brooks County auditor to provide records of payments, invoices and other documents pertaining to the burials.
“The release of the documents I am requesting will help all of us who love Brooks County to let the world know that we have respect for all people, and send a strong message that any such disregard for honoring the lives of people and their loved ones will never be tolerated,” Canales said.
The lawmaker said he was angered after reading a description of the burial practices in the Caller-Times.
“I know we share the same frustration, shock, and disbelief that something so horrific could transpire in our own backyard,” he wrote in his request to the auditor.
The increasing pressure for a response to the mass graves comes as Texas and the nation try to handle tens of thousands of unaccompanied children who entered the country illegally since last fall, and who continue to arrive and fill shelters to capacity. Many are fleeing violence and unrest in Central America.
In Brooks County, hundreds of undocumented immigrants have died in the past several years trying to avoid a Border Patrol checkpoint on U.S. Highway 281, about 70 miles from the border. They perish of dehydration, exposure and illness after setting off on foot on a trek of 30 miles or longer through vast, remote mesquite thickets on private ranches, where summer temperatures regularly reach 100 degrees or more.

Yesterday, jihadists called for the beheading of UK Prime Minister David Cameron.
Today, President Obama.
But it’s the islamophobia that’s the real problem.
Both Cameron and Obama have appeased and capitulated to jihadists worldwide. These signs of surrender and weakness embolden these savages.
Robert Spencer writes;
This clown’s Twitter account is still active. Twitter only seems interested in closing the accounts of those who oppose jihad terror. But anyway, here again we see a convert to Islam turn against his nation and people, and cheer on their subjugation. Which mosques in the U.S. are teaching against the idea that Islamic law should encompass the world? Why, none of them. None at all.

Study Further Confirms Link Between Autism and Pesticide Exposure
Study further confirms link between autism and pesticide exposure
Living near farms and fields can put a fetus at risk

DON'T MISS STORIES FOLLOW THE VERGE
Complications during pregnancy, viral infections, and genetic disorders have all been associated with autism. But for the past few years, an increasing number of researchers have started to focus their attention on another important risk factor: environmental pollutants. These neurotoxins, which include everything from pesticides, to mercury and diesel, are thought to alter brain development in fetuses. Now, a new study further confirms this link by showing that pregnant women who live within a mile of farms and fields where pesticides are employed see their risk of having a child with autism increase by 60 percent — and that risk actually doubles if the exposure occurs in the third trimester.
"Pesticides are one of the toxicants that appear to have the strongest association with autism," says Dan Rossignol, an autism expert at Jeff Bradstreet's International Child Development Resource Center inFlorida who did not participate in the study, published today in Environmental Health Perspectives. These latest results, he says, "strengthen that association."
In the study, researchers linked data from the California Pesticide Use Report to the residential addresses of 970 children participating in the ongoing Childhood Autism Risks from Genes and Environment (CHARGE) study. This allowed the scientists to make connections between various developmental delays, and the types of chemicals that mothers may have been exposed to before conception, and during pregnancy. They also took note of prenatal vitamin intake, socio-economic status, and metabolic disorders during pregnancy to avoid interference by possible confounders.
THE RISK COULD GO UP "AS MUCH AS THREEFOLD."
"Women who live within a mile of organophosphate or pyrethroids agricultural pesticide applications were more likely to have a child with autism spectrum than women living further away," said Janie Shelton, an epidemiologist at the University of California Davis and lead author of the study, in an email to The Verge. Currently, 1 in 68 American children have some form of autism spectrum disorder. But the risk could go up "as much as threefold" when women are exposed to organophosphates later in pregnancy, Shelton said. This means that scientists need to "investigate [these results] further, while taking preventive steps to decrease exposure to women during and just prior to conception."
For Rossignol, "the only type of study that would have been better" would have been a study "where women were followed before, during, after pregnancy — as well as their babies — to determine if, over time, those higher exposure to pesticides had a higher risk of autism." Richard Frye, an autism researcher at the University of Arkansas who was not involved in the study, agrees with Rossignol, and pointed out in an email that "there could be bias in the sample of patients because the participants volunteered for the study." This means that these participants are the kinds of people that that "seek medical care for their children" — which isn't necessarily representative of all parents. But overall, both scientists praised the study's design.
PREGNANT WOMEN SHOULD AVOID CONTACT WITH AGRICULTURAL PESTICIDES
Shelton and her team would like to continue the research — if they can get more funding. One of their goals is to find out if certain sub-groups are more vulnerable to pesticide exposure. But, regardless of the outcome, Shelton thinks the message is clear: Pregnant women should avoid contact with agricultural pesticides.
"The neurotoxicity of many agricultural agents have been suspected from animal studies for sometime," Frye said, so "this information needs to be taken seriously for not only expecting women, but women who are planning to become pregnant." He thinks that taking steps to prevent autism and other developmental delays is "much better for society" than treating children "once they have been born with such abnormalities." But to do that, he said, we need to proactively educate mothers about the risks — and what they can do to fight back. "Simple things like proper nutrition and folate supplement [intake] is still suboptimal in some areas," but these are "simple factors that can have a large impact at preventing autism and developmental disorders."

Lawyers Move to Question ‘Callous’ Guantánamo Prison Chief Under Oath

Lawyers Move to Question ‘Callous’ Guantánamo Prison Chief Under Oath
WASHINGTON - June 23 - A federal judge has been asked to compel sworn testimony from the military prison boss who confiscated the wheelchair of a disabled hunger-striker at Guantánamo Bay.
Lawyers representing Syrian prisoner Abu Wa'el Dhiab filed a motion last night to question Colonel John Bogdan under oath in Dhiab v Obama, which challenges force-feeding practices at the prison. In the same motion, they also request the sworn testimony of Guantánamo’s current and former head doctors about Mr. Dhiab’s need for a wheelchair, as well as current abusive and medically unsound force-feeding practices at the prison.
Col. Bogdan is responsible for a particularly brutal regime over the past two years at Guantánamo. In response to the mass hunger strike of 2013, he rolled out a series of harsh punishments designed to 'break' the peaceful protest of scores of cleared men who despair of ever being released.
In particular, attorneys want an explanation of the Col. Bogdan's recent decision to deprive Mr Dhiab, who is now disabled and in very poor health, of his wheelchair. Medical records made public on Wednesday suggest that the move was entirely punitive, with an April 25, 2014 note of a nurse warning Mr Dhiab that his "dis(ciplinary) status with guard force is affecting his ability to have a wheelchair".
The motion comes after 16 news organizations formally intervened in Dhiab v Obama to seek access to video evidence of Mr Dhiab's treatment on First Amendment grounds. That intervention motion can be read here.
Mr Dhiab, a father of four from Syria, has been imprisoned without charge at Guantánamo Bay since 2002. He was cleared for release by the Obama Administration in 2009. A full hearing on the merits of his force-feeding challenge is expected to be scheduled by Labor Day.
Cori Crider, Reprieve attorney for Mr Dhiab, said: "If you take a disabled man’s wheelchair away, you ought to have to answer for it under oath. Col. Bogdan's new ‘no wheelchairs’ policy reveals at best a callous indifference to suffering, and at worst an abuse of the total power he exercises over prisoners in his care. This is the ugly reality of Guantánamo, and it is just the tip of the iceberg.”
Alka Pradhan, Reprieve attorney for Mr Dhiab, said: "The US government needs to stop hiding behind secrecy at Guantanamo Bay and start giving answers about why my clients continue to be abused there."

Coming Soon: Americans to be Taxed for Every Mile They Drive
Coming Soon: Americans to be Taxed for Every Mile They Drive
Posted on June 23, 2014 by The Daily Sheeple
The government has plans to tax Americans for every mile they drive.
This is about more than just generating revenue or saving the planet from all of those “greenhouse gases”.
This is part of the Agenda 21 lot to corral people in one place. It is to discourage people from living outside the city and commuting to work. It is a plan that will force many to rely on public transportation. Lots of people in a small area are far easier to control than people scattered about in wide open spaces.

The South Dakota Republican Party state convention passed a resolution calling for the impeachment of President Barack Obama Saturday.
The resolution says Obama has "violated his oath of office in numerous ways." It specifically cites the release of five Taliban combatants in a trade for captive U.S. soldier Bowe Bergdahl, Obama's statement that people could keep insurance companies, and recent EPA regulations on power plants.
"Therefore, be it resolved that the South Dakota Republican Party calls on our U.S. Representatives to initiate impeachment proceedings against the president of the United States," the resolution reads.
(Read the full text of the resolution and see how each county voted here.)
Allen Unruh of Sioux Falls sponsored the resolution.
"I've got a thick book on impeachable offenses of the president," Unruh said, calling on South Dakota to "send a symbolic message that liberty shall be the law of the land."
Delegate David Wheeler of Beadle County disagreed.
"I believe we should not use the power of impeachment for political purposes," Wheeler said. "By doing this, we would look petty, like we can't achieve our political goals through the political process."
Larry Eliason of Potter County agreed, noting that he opposed the impeachment resolution even though "the only thing (Obama's) done the last six years that I approve of is when he adopted a pet."
But Larry Klipp of Butte County, a retired Marine, said matters go beyond mere political disagreements with Obama.
"If anyone in this room cannot see the horrendous, traitorous scandals run by the Obama administration, I will pray for you," Klipp said.
Delegates voted 191-176 in favor of the resolution. The Pennington County delegation voted 47-9 in favor of the impeachment resolution, and Minnehaha County voted 28-15 in favor.
Rep. Kristi Noem, South Dakota's lone delegate in the House of Representatives — which has the power to initiate impeachment proceedings — was cool to the resolution.
Noem, who addressed the Republican convention Saturday morning, hours before the resolutions was voted on, doesn't believe impeachment is the "best way" to deal with Obama.
"The congresswoman currently believes the best way for Congress to hold the president accountable is to continue aggressive committee oversight and investigations into the administration's actions like the ongoing VA scandal, the targeting of conservative groups by the IRS, Benghazi, and the recent Taliban prisoner exchange," said Brittany Comins, Noem's spokesperson.
If the House voted to impeach Obama, the Senate would then rule on the validity of the charges. It takes a two-thirds majority in the Senate to remove a president from office.

5KW Grid-Tie Solar Power System
5KW Grid-Tie Solar Power System
June 23rd, 2014We pay NZ$47.7 cents (including GST) per kilowatt hour for electricity. That’s robbery. Year after year, it just keeps going higher. This isn’t to say that electricity is a bargain anywhere in NZ, it’s just unbelievably expensive in the Far North.
It’s a pretty good scam when companies can keep raising prices for electricity while demand remains flat.
As winter closed in this year, Becky and I decided that we weren’t going to take it anymore. After doing a lot of research, we called up SolarKing and had them install a 5KW grid-tie system for us. We went for twenty 250watt Trina Honey panels and the outstanding SMA Sunny Boy 5000 TL inverter.
Although we spent a large chunk of our savings on the system, we’re looking at recovering the cost in about five years, which is incredible. In other parts of NZ, system payoff times will be longer, but still much shorter than just a couple of years ago because panel prices have dropped sharply. If you have money sitting in a savings account, you probably realize that after tax and inflation, that situation isn’t looking so hot. Additionally, we were going to be spending the money on the electricity whether we got the solar system or not—might as well get the solar system.
I’ve wanted a solar energy system for about three decades (since I was a kid, in other words). Yes, I used to pester my parents to install solar panels. It just never made economic sense with system payback times measured in decades. So, move to the rural Far North of New Zealand and feel the boot of that electricity bill on your neck, and it’s amazing how solar power becomes a no brainer!
Here’s what our house looks like now (click for bigger images):
5KW Solar System
5KW Solar System
I was so impressed with what SolarKing did for us that I became a sales representative with them. I was planning on waiting until I collected more performance data from our system to announce all of this, but there has been a time sensitive development.
Yes, readers in NZ, I want to sell you a solar power system.
SolarKing is currently offering 3KW Q-Cells and SMA system packages for NZ$9,995, including GST and installation.
German panels.
German inverter.
NZ$2000 off the normal price.
SolarKing made ten of those available a couple of weeks ago, and they are down to four. That’s why I’m posting this now, so you guys in NZ could consider this deal in case you’ve been looking to get into solar. Want a bigger system? Let’s discuss it.
SolarKing handles everything. You don’t have to mess around with applications to the power companies to get the grid-tie consents. I just paid the administrative fee and the system application was approved. (The fees vary by region and aren’t included in the system price. Mine was NZ$200.)
If you are in New Zealand and have any questions about solar, send me an email. If you do a deal for a SolarKing system through me, I’ll make 6% on it. My manager said that he’ll pay me on any systems I sell around New Zealand. I’m supposed to come out to your house and measure your roof pitch and roof orientation, check for shading issues, take pictures of your breaker panel, your meters, your roof and get copies of your electricity bill etc. etc. If you’re cool with helping me get that info, SolarKing will pay me the commission on your system.
Ok, to sum up my pitch: German panels, German inverter, save thousands, support Cryptogon, lower your power bill. Win!
Finally, I’d just like to say thank you to those of you who have ever supported us over the years. That system wouldn’t be on our house if it wasn’t for you.
