I recently had an email exchange with a friend I felt I should share with you, because I feel it is vitally important.


My friend commented that, given the negligible headway the 9/11 Truth
Movement has made here in the States, “…we may have to depend on people
and organizations beyond our borders to conduct an honest and effective
investigation.”


While a laudable proposition, I daresay even that tack has been vigorously explored by a few notable stalwarts to no avail.


I recall ex-multi-millionaire Jimmy Walter’s noble efforts, some 10
years ago, to spread the word around the world. Of his 14-million-dollar
fortune (bequeathed
to him by his father), Jimmy spent over $12m producing videos and
assembling panels of experts to travel the world preaching the 9/11
Truth bible. He organized symposia in major international cities that
drew huge crowds. He even aspired to educate world leaders.


Jimmy actually traveled with William Rodriguez to Malaysia and made
presentations to Mahathir Mohamad in person. They also flew to Venezuela
and presented to several of Hugo Chavez’s top aides. These are a well
known facts. Walters and Rodriguez would later say every one of these
high-ranking people knew
at least as much, if not more, about 9/11 than they did. These foreign
heads even proudly showed off their stacked shelves of 9/11-related
books! It is an inarguable fact that Mahathir and Chavez were 100% aware
of the Big Lie — likely in far greater detail than any of us are.


There have been other powerful high-ranking officials elsewhere — in
the UK, Japan, Finland, Germany— who made much noise about seriously
hoisting the 9/11 Truth flag in their respective parliaments, all to no
avail.


I’ll take it a step further:


I have absolutely no doubt that every single world leader — at the
very least, their Intelligence heads — is fully aware of the 9/11
cover-up.


Yes, that would include Putin, Merkel, Hallande, Xi Jinping…the lot of ‘em.


Look, HOW COULD THEY NOT?


Do think about this for a moment.


If literally millions of ordinary people
around the world know all about 9/11, do you really thing the highly
specialized, well-trained Intelligence operatives of the world’s
governments haven’t yet figured it out?!


Even if some of these world leaders at the UN are as dense as rocks (some are, like our congresscitters), their intel
heads certainly aren’t. And what do intel departments do when they dig
up dirt? They pass it up to their bosses. That’s their job. That’s all
they do.


And you think we need to “convince” these people?


Let’s get real, folks: THEY ALL KNOW 9/11 WAS AN INSIDE JOB!


It would be incredibly stupid of us to think, even for a moment, that
we Truthers have somehow managed to dig up and monopolize all the facts
through the Internet, while the intel agencies of the world slept through the past 12 years!


Look, any kid with a computer and half a brain can see through the lie, but these trained intelligence experts couldn’t?!


The notion is absurd.


So, why don’t all these men and women — some of whom have openly made
murmurings about having “questions” about 9/11 — stand up and scream
from the world stage?


Two — and only two — reasons:


1. Fear
2. Complicity


They are afraid. Or they are complicit. Period.


Even lions such as Chavez whimpered when it came to standing up to
the NWO vis-à-vis 9/11. He had the guts to literally look down their
barrels on every other major issue EXCEPT 9/11.


Even leaders such as Chavez didn’t have the balls to take a step in
that direction. These individuals are not afraid for their own lives —
they fear for the long term health and wellbeing of their citizenry and
the financial stability and future of their nations. They know full well
that standing up and questioning 9/11 would be tantamount to signing
their nations’ death warrants.


Even these courageous men figured out that 9/11 Truth is a hell of a
lot bigger — and far more perilous to their personal survival and their
precious national interests — than they ever imagined.


Even these political big guns know full well that the apparatus
behind 9/11 is an incalculably evil, pathologically perverse juggernaut
whose near-absolute overarching power far transcends that of mere
national governments. Even these few genuinely righteous leaders quickly
figured out it would be best to make a quiet retreat with their
personal health and that of their nations intact than make waves.


That’s really how big 9/11 Truth really is. Actually, it’s quite
frightening when viewed in its totality, in its fullest dimensions —
something few of us take the time to do.


It’s time we all woke up to a cold, hard fact:


No amount of canvassing abroad at high levels is going to get ANY kind of 9/11 investigation rolling.


IT AIN’T GONNA HAPPEN!


The only way to fight the NWO monster is through a mass awakening —
one massive groundswell of public awareness beginning at the grassroots
level.


Anything short of this is pissing in the wind.


What ReThink911.org is doing to raise awareness is admirable. And theirs is the ONLY kind of well-organized activity that is likely to succeed.


Bottom line: Bury this foolish idea of getting some kind of
“independent international panel” of judges to get the 9/11 ball
rolling.


If we are to succeed, we need to keep hammering at the grassroots
level to create the groundswell we need to crack this thing open.

The Department for International Development continued to fund the Democratic Republic of Congo's police for 12 months after first reports of executions and disappearances

Britain continued to fund the police force of the Democratic Republic of Congo for almost 12 months after officers “summarily executed” at least nine people, including a child.

Another 32 men and boys disappeared during a police offensive in the capital, Kinshasa, codenamed “Operation Punch”. Of these, 29 are still missing including two 16-year-olds.

The first public reports of police brutality emerged within two weeks of the launch of Operation Likofi – meaning “Punch” - on Nov 15 last year.

On Nov 27, the United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef) and the UN peacekeeping mission in Congo issued a joint press release voicing alarm over “reports of disappearance and assassination of young men and children in some communes of Kinshasa”.

At the time, the UN agencies said that about 20 people, including 12 children, had been killed. They urged “immediate steps” to “put an end to such acts”.

Despite this public statement, however, the Department for International Development (Dfid) continued to fund Congo’s police for almost another year.

Dfid suspended its “Security Sector Accountability and Police Reform Programme” this month, following a UN report in October which confirmed nine deaths and numerous other violations during Operation Punch.

Under the now frozen programme, Dfid had promised to spend £67 million to “improve the capacity and accountability of the Congolese National Police” between 2008 and 2015. By the time the scheme was suspended, Dfid had already disbursed almost £55 million.

Asked why Dfid continued to fund Congo’s police for almost a year after the first public reports of atrocities, a spokesperson for the department replied: “We were aware of reports of human rights violations and raised them regularly at the highest level of the Congolese Government while the UN conducted their investigations. We wanted to make sure that any action followed the outcome of the UN investigation.”

Dfid added that a “swift decision” was taken to “suspend” aid to Congo’s police after the UN published its final report.

Congo’s government is one of the most corrupt and ineffective in Africa – and the country’s police force is notoriously brutal.

The UN’s final report into Operation Punch found that at least nine people were “summarily executed” and another 32 “forcibly disappeared” during this supposed operation against organised crime.

The report adds: “Having received many more allegations of human rights violations which it has been unable to confirm, the [UN] believes that the total number of victims could be much higher.”

The UN found a “recurrent modus operandi” whereby masked or hooded policemen would travel through Kinshasa in unmarked vehicles after dark, stopping outside the homes of their intended victims.

One 30-year-old shopkeeper was shot in the back when “hooded individuals” in police uniforms came to his home in the early hours of the morning of 19 Nov last year.

Five days later, an 18-year-old was picked up by hooded and armed police while he was trying to earn money by cleaning cars at 9pm on Nov 23. “The police put him into one of the two pick-ups they were travelling in and spent two hours circling the district before killing him with three shots in the back,” found the UN report.

The youngest victim of summary execution was a 17-year-old boy, who was shot in the back outside his home by hooded men in police uniforms. The squad arrived at about 3am on Nov 27.

As for the 32 people who disappeared, three were able to buy their release from police custody by paying bribes. The rest are still missing, including a 16-year-old schoolboy who was taken from his home at 3am on Feb 25 this year.

He was tied up by “armed and hooded” men who drove him to a nearby police station. “The child has never been found, although his family have made searches at several detention facilities in Kinshasa,” reads the report.

Dfid’s budget rose by 32 per cent between 2012 and 2013 – the biggest percentage increase in one year ever enjoyed by a Whitehall department in peacetime history. Critics say the pressure to spend its budget makes it harder for Dfid to suspend questionable aid programmes.

Swiss, French call to bring home gold reserves as Dutch move 122 tons out of US

The financial crisis in Europe is prompting some nations to repatriate their gold reserves to national vaults. The Netherlands has moved $5 billion worth of gold from New York, and some are calling for similar action from France, Switzerland, and Germany.

An unmatched pace of money printing by major central banks has boosted concerns in European countries over the safety of their gold reserves abroad.

The Dutch central bank – De Nederlandsche Bank – was one of the latest to make the move. The bank announced last Friday that it moved a fifth of its total 612.5-metric-ton gold reserve from New York to Amsterdam earlier in November.

It was done in an effort to redistribute the gold stock in “a more balanced way,” and to boost public confidence, the bank explained.

“With this adjustment the Dutch Central Bank joins other banks that are keeping a larger share of their gold supply in their own country,” the bank said in a statement. “In addition to a more balanced division of the gold reserves...this may also contribute to a positive confidence effect with the public.”

Dutch gold reserves are now divided as follows: 31 percent in Amsterdam, 31 percent in New York, 20 percent in Ottawa, Canada and 18 percent in London.

Meanwhile, Switzerland has organized the ‘Save Our Swiss Gold’ referendum, which is taking place on November 30. If passed, it would force the Swiss National Bank to convert a fifth of its assets into gold and repatriate all of its reserves from vaults in the UK and Canada.

“The Swiss initiative is merely part of an increasing global scramble towards gold and away from the endless printing of money. Huge movements of gold are going on right now,” Koos Jansen, an Amsterdam-based gold analyst for the Singaporean precious metal dealer BullionStar, told the Guardian.

France has also recently joined in on the trend, with the leader of the far-right National Front party Marine Le Pen calling on the central bank to repatriate the country’s gold reserves.

In an open letter to the governor of the Banque de France, Christian Noyer, Le Pen also demanded an audit of 2,435 tons of physical gold inventory.

Germany tried and failed to adopt a similar path in early 2013 by announcing a plan to repatriate some of its gold reserves back from the US and France.

The efforts fizzled out this summer, when it was announced that Germany decided to leave $635 billion worth of gold in US vaults.

Germany only keeps about a third of its gold at home. Forty-five percent is held in New York, 13 percent in London, 11 percent in Paris, and only 31 percent in the Bundesbank in Frankfurt.

'This Is Only the Beginning': Oregon GMO Labeling Measure Heads to Recount

Though Yes campaign was massively outspent, results showed slim margin, triggering automatic recount

Advocates of labeling genetically modified foods are cheering that an Oregon measure that would require such labeling is headed to an automatic recount.

Measure 92, as Common Dreams reported earlier this month, would mandate that beginning January 2016, certain food items that were produced with or contain GMOs, also referred to as genetically engineered (GE) food, would be labeled as such.

Despite the Yes on 92 campaign being greatly outspent, the final tally showed Monday that the effort was defeated by only 0.06 percentage point, less than the threshold needed to trigger a recount.

The Oregonian reports that the recount will take place by December 12.

"Thanks to the tireless efforts of on the ground organizers, and despite an aggressive and expensive opposition campaign, GE food labeling is still alive in Oregon," stated Andrew Kimbrell, executive director of Center for Food Safety, an organization that was a lead author of Measure 92. "The power and tenaciousness of the Food Movement has been on full display here in Oregon," he added.

Sandeep Kaushik, a spokesperson for Yes on Measure 92, stated this week:  "Oregonians saw through the No side’s false and cynical scare tactics and stood up for transparency and accountability in our food system."

Though, as the Associated Press notes, the odds are not in favor of the recount shifting to be in favor of the Yes side, labeling advocates see hope for their movement.

Kimbrell stated: "Regardless of what happens next, this is only the beginning."

Kaushik echoed that sentiment, stating that "regardless of the final outcome of the mandatory recount, the labeling issue is not going away. This movement continues to grow and build support across this state and around the country, and that growth will continue."

"Those of us who support labeling and backed Measure 92 see this as an effort that will get stronger and stronger until we reach the day when every American is provided the information they need to make informed decisions about the food they eat and feed their families," Kaushik stated.

If the measure passes, Oregon would become the fourth state to require the labeling of GMOs.

'What better day than Thanksgiving to remind the world that eating local, organic food is one way to stop this profit-mongering, biodiversity-destroying monopoly,' asks Reverend Billy

People around the country are pledging to make their Thanksgiving feasts as organic, local, non-GMO, and pesticide-free as possible, while healthy food advocates are taking their message straight to agrochemical giant Monsanto's front lawn.

Reverend Billy and the Stop Shopping Choir—a project of longtime activist and street preacher Bill Talen—in collaboration with the Organic Consumers Association, GMO Free Midwest, Gateway Garlic Farms, and The Greenhorns, are hosting an organic Thanksgiving dinner Thursday on the lawn of the world’s largest biotechnology seed company in St. Louis, Missouri.

Participants, who have been asked "bring a plate, utensils, a cup, and a vegetarian or vegan dish to share," will gather at a nearby park at 1 pm, at which point they will march less than a mile to Monsanto's world headquarters.

Then, "after our Monsanto action we'll take our food to the activists, who may have forgotten to pack a lunch," Talen wrote on his blog, referring to demonstrators in nearby Ferguson.

The Stop Shopping Choir performed in Ferguson Wednesday night:

"After a banner year performing in the United States and Europe to bring attention to the role of big corporations in climate disruption and poisoning of honey bees, Reverend Billy will conclude 2014 by confronting the company that is responsible for Agent Orange, PCBs, GMOs, Bovine Growth Hormone, Glyphosate and more," the group said of Thursday's planned action.

"Monsanto must be stopped," added Reverend Billy, who has been jailed more than 50 times protesting social and environmental injustices. "Monsanto is the devil and what better day than Thanksgiving to remind the world that eating local, organic food is one way to stop this profit-mongering, biodiversity-destroying monopoly."

Awareness continues to increase surrounding the pervasive dangers of Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs). A man killed by police after he began shooting at buildings in downtown Austin, Texas targeted the Mexican Consulate, with media reports now suggesting one of the motives behind the attack may have been opposition to President Obama’s amnesty program.

“The suspect fired at three different buildings, including APD headquarters along 8th St. and the I-35 frontage road, the Mexican Consulate and the Federal Courthouse. An officer there saw the suspect near APD HQ and opened fire; the suspect fell to the ground,” reports KXAN.

Ferguson and the False Promise of ”Revolution”;

 

Build, don't burn. Collaborate, don't complain. Don't simply "resist" the system, replace it altogether.

When faced on the battlefield with a numerically superior enemy, one must attempt to divide his enemy into smaller, more easily dispatched opponents - or even more ideally, divide them against one another, and have them defeat each other without ever drawing your sword. For Wall Street's 0.1%, divide and conquer is a way of life.
Divide and Conquer
Never in human history has there been a more effective way for tyrants to rule over large groups of people who, should they ever learn to cooperate, would easily throw off such tyranny.
At the conclusion of the Anglo-Zulu War, the British despoiled Zululand, divided it into 14 separate chiefdoms, each led by a proxy obedient to the British Empire. The British ensured that these 14 chiefdoms harbored animosities toward one another and fostered petty infighting between them to ensure British interests would never again be challenged by a unified Zulu threat. Before the British, the Romans would employ similar tactics across Germania and Gaul.

Image: Zululand lies in flaming ruins, its legendary army decimated, but the British were not about to take any chances of allowing them to unite and resit again. They divided the defeated nation into 14 chiefdoms each headed by leaders harboring dislike for the others ensuring perpetual infighting and a divided, weakened Zululand never again to rise and challenge British subjugation.

In this way, the British Empire and the Romans managed to not only decimate their enemies, but by keeping them perpetually infighting, divided, and at war with one another, manged to keep them subservient to imperial rule for generations.
But one would be mistaken to believe that imperialism is only waged abroad. Imperialism is as much about manipulating, controlling, and perpetuating subservience at home as it is projecting hegemony abroad. For the imperialist, all of humanity represents a sea of potential usurpers. The systematic division, weakening, and subjugation of various social groups along political, religious, class, or racial lines has proven an ageless solution for the elite.
One remembers the infamous use of Christians as a scapegoat for the corruption of Roman Emperor Nero, deflecting public anger away from the ruling elite and unto others among the plebeians.
This is a game that has continued throughout the centuries and continues on to this very day. While racial, religious, and political divisions are aspects of human nature, they are viciously exploited by the ruling elite to divide and destroy any capacity of the general public to organize, resist, or compete with established sociopolitical and economic monopolies.
Ferguson - Playing America Like a Fiddle

Before protests began breaking out in Ferguson, Missouri, and even after the first of the protests in August, many across America's polarized "left/right" paradigm began to find a common ground, shocked at the level of militarization the police had undergone and the heavy-handed response they exercised amid protests. Even among the generally pro-police and military "right," there was concern over what was finally recognized as a growing and quite menacing "police state" in America.
Politicians, the corporate media, and security agencies set off to work, dividing America's public down very predictable lines. Convenient "revelations" that the police were connected with the ultra-racist Ku Klux Klan, coupled with growing choruses across the right to circle the wagons in support of the militarized police attempted to place those who converged on this common ground back into their assigned places on the "right" and "left" of America's ultimately Wall Street-controlled political order.
Regardless of its success, attempts to intentionally provoke violence, confusion, and division on both sides is an attempt by the establishment to keep people divided and weak while maintaining their position of primacy over the country and the expansive "international order" it imposes globally. It was this establishment, in fact, that intentionally militarized the police, intentionally cultivates both institutional racism as well as sociopolitical and economic rot in America's inner cities, creating breeding grounds of violence and crime. So busy is America managing the predictable conflict amongst themselves, they have neither the time nor the energy to recognize their true tormentors.
In reality, the police and protesters and those across America and around the world "picking sides" have more in common with one another than the government and corporate-financier interests that reign in Washington and on Wall Street.
Get Off the Hamster Wheel
One cannot accomplish anything by burning down one's own community, killing one another, or complaining and protesting endlessly. Real revolution is not taking to the streets and destroying a political order, it is creating a new order that displaces the old.
The American Revolution, for instance, occurred after the colonies established their own economic system, as well as their own militias, political networks, and infrastructure. The violence broke out only after the British tried to reassert themselves amid the steady process of being displaced. By the time shots were being fired, the real revolution had already occurred - the subsequent war was to defend its success.
Today, the establishment constitutes unchecked, unwarranted power and influence held by the corporate-financier elite - an establishment we are in fact paying into daily every time we patronize their businesses, use their services, associate with their institutions, and pay in attention and time to their propaganda and political agenda we ourselves should be setting and executing. Ironically many of both the police and protesters clashing in Ferguson on opposite sides of the "conflict" have homes full of Wall Street's goods, and subscriptions to many of their services.
Indeed, Walmart ends up filling our homes with most of the consumer products we depend on in America. A handful of agricultural giants feed us. A handful of pharmaceutical giants medicate us. A handful of energy monopolies light our homes and fuel our vehicles. You could fill a single sheet of paper with the names of corporate-financier interests that rule over nearly every aspect of our lives.
Such monopolies exist because they have extinguished competitors. Ensuring that competition remains extinguished means creating a society that is incapable of producing individuals or paradigms capable of challenging their established order. This includes sabotaging the education system, creating a socioeconomic system that encourages unsustainable dependence rather than self-sufficiency and independence, and rigging rules, regulations, and laws against any potential upstarts.
The notion of Ferguson protesters demanding justice from a system created of injustice, upon injustice, is as absurd as trying to squeeze apple juice from a lemon. It is the definition of fantastical futility.

Instead of demanding justice, jobs, education, healthcare, food, and other necessities and desires from a system with no intention of ever empowering the people - a system that in order to continue perpetuating itself must by necessity never truly empower the people - we must begin working together locally to empower ourselves.
Power stems from infrastructure and institutions - and locally this can be accomplished in innumerable ways. Already farmers' markets, organic cooperatives, makerspaces, churches, community centers, community gardens, and charities along with innovative small businesses leveraging technology to do locally what once required global spanning industry to accomplish, all constitute the seeds of this shifting paradigm. For communities unlucky enough not to have one of these above institutions, or a lack of them, instead of baying for blood in the streets, burning down buildings, or clashing with police, build them.
The alternative media itself is proof of what power people have when they stop depending on others, stop demanding others to do their jobs properly, and instead take up the responsibility themselves. Expanding this paradigm shift to other aspects of our daily lives, from agriculture to energy, to education, will be key to true and enduring change.
Ferguson teaches us that real change in the mind of many is still far off. America isn't on the edge of revolution. A hamster wheel endlessly spinning has no "edge." Those picking sides and bickering over the events in Ferguson are playing into an elementary strategy of divide and conquer. We are divided, Wall Street has conquered.
At the end of it all, Wall Street comes out even stronger. Because in the smoking remnants of our communities after all is said and done, we have even less with which to build an alternative to the system we live trapped within. Divided, we have half the people we should be joining together with, collaborating and building together with, to build the world we want to live in tomorrow.
Build, don't burn. Collaborate, don't complain. Don't simply "resist" the system, replace it altogether.

School Expels Child Over Vaccine That Even the Doctor Refuses to Give

An 8-year-old Long Island girl has been kicked out of school, and the reason is outrageous.
Ceili McNicholas was told not to return to Long Island’s Laddie A. Decker Sound Beach School after her mother Jamie refused to let her receive the T-Dap booster, which protects against tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis.
The decision to skip the booster wasn’t solely Jamie’s idea – her daughter’s pediatrician won’t administer the shot because it is labeled for children ages 10 and over. Ceili is only 8.
“If we give that T-Dap vaccination between 7 and 10, we are using it off label. And it’s not licensed for usage.. So if we can’t use it, then we are the ones going to be held liable,” Long Island pediatrician Dr. Mary Renna told CBS New York.

Jamie said Ceili is among a small percentage of children who got all their vaccinations for pertussis, also known as whooping cough, under the age of 4. The state recently changed their immunization regulations, and now they are requiring a booster shot for those kids.
“I got a call from the school in September saying she needed another vaccine in order to be compliant with this new regulation,” Jamie said.
Doctors interviewed by CBS pointed out a conflict between government agencies: The FDA approves the T-Dap booster for ages 10 and over, but the state follows CDC guidelines, which recommends the booster for ages 7 through 10.

Jamie received a letter from the school that said Ceili would not be allowed to return until she had the booster. Monday, November 17, was her deadline.
“We put her on the bus as usual,” Jamie said. But Ceili was then told her mom would have to pick her up, CBS reported.
“The assistant principal took me to the parking lot and took me to the car,” Ceili said.
The school district said it has no choice and is only enforcing regulations set by the state:

In a statement, the Miller Place School District said “We appreciate the family’s frustration. The Miller Place School District is required and obligated to follow all of the rules and regulations of the State of New York on all matters including children’s health.

Questions and concerns about this issue should be raised with the New York State Department of Education and the Suffolk County Department of Health.”

So, the school district said it is following state education guidelines. The New York State Education Department said it is following the guidelines of state health officials. And … the state Health Department said its decisions are based on CDC recommendations.
Is anyone else confused?
And should we really trust the CDC, anyway?
Jamie said she isn’t giving in:

The only way that she will be back in school before age 10 is if the state makes an exception for my daughter and the other kids that are faced with the same situation, because I’m not getting her that shot.

The manufacturer put a guideline on things for a reason. I don’t feel that because there is no vaccine available, just giving them the ones for the older kids — it’s not the answer.

Jamie has begun to homeschool Ceili and has started an online petition to get her daughter back into school. She said her daughter misses school and her teacher.
“It breaks your heart,” Jamie said. “But do I sacrifice her health, possibly, just to get her into that building?”
Surely there are other students who attend Ceili’s school who are not vaccinated. New York allows two vaccination exemptions:

Section 2164 of the Public Health Law permits the following two exemptions to this mandatory immunization requirement:

(1) If the parent objects to the immunization because the parent holds genuine and sincere religious beliefs which are contrary to the requirement that the child be immunized; or

(2) If a New York State licensed physician certifies that such immunization may be detrimental to the child’s health.

Here are the state’s guidelines for medical exemptions:

If you are seeking a medical exemption, you must provide a letter from a New York State licensed physician certifying that one or more of the required immunizations are detrimental to your child’s health. The letter should specify which immunizations may be harmful to your child and for how long the immunization(s) would be detrimental. Your school will forward documentation in support of a medical exemption to the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene for review.

Perhaps it is time for the parents of impacted children to start exploring those options, or opt to homeschool like Jamie.

Most Americans, regardless of ideology, oppose “crony capitalism” or “cronyism.” Cronyism is where politicians write laws aimed at helping their favored business beneficiaries. Despite public opposition to cronyism, politicians still seek to use the legislative process to help special interests.

For example, Congress may soon vote on legislation outlawing Internet gambling. It is an open secret, at least inside the Beltway, that this legislation is being considered as a favor to billionaire casino owner, Sheldon Adelson. Mr. Adelson, who is perhaps best known for using his enormous wealth to advance a pro-war foreign policy, is now using his political influence to turn his online competitors into criminals.

Supporters of an Internet gambling ban publicly deny they are motivated by a desire to curry favor with a wealthy donor. Instead, they give a number of high-minded reasons for wanting to ban this activity. Some claim that legalizing online gambling will enrich criminals and even terrorists! But criminalizing online casinos will not eliminate the demand for online casinos. Instead, passage of this legislation will likely guarantee that the online gambling market is controlled by criminals. Thus, it is those who support outlawing online gambling who may be aiding criminals and terrorists.

A federal online gambling ban would overturn laws in three states that allow online gambling. It would also end the ongoing debate over legalizing online gambling in many other states. Yet some have claimed that Congress must pass this law in order to protect states rights! Their argument is that citizens of states that ban Internet gambling may easily get around those laws by accessing online casinos operating in states where online gambling is legalized.

Even if the argument had merit that allowing states to legalize online gambling undermines laws in other states, it would not justify federal legislation on the issue. Nowhere in the Constitution is the federal government given any authority to regulate activities such as online gambling. Arguing that “states rights” justifies creating new federal crimes turns the Tenth Amendment, which was intended to limit federal power, on its head.

Many supporters of an Internet gambling ban sincerely believe that gambling is an immoral and destructive activity that should be outlawed. However, the proposed legislation is not at all about the morality of gambling. It is about whether Americans who do gamble should have the choice to do so online, or be forced to visit brick-and-mortar casinos.

Even if there was some moral distinction between gambling online or in a physical casino, prohibiting behavior that does not involve force or fraud has no place in a free society. It is no more appropriate for gambling opponents to use force to stop people from playing poker online than it would be for me to use force to stop people from reading pro-war, neocon writers.

Giving government new powers over the Internet to prevent online gambling will inevitably threaten all of our liberties. Government bureaucrats will use this new authority to expand their surveillance of the Internet activities of Americans who have no interest in gambling, just as they used the new powers granted by the PATRIOT Act to justify mass surveillance.

The proposed ban on Internet gambling is a blatantly unconstitutional infringement on our liberties that will likely expand the surveillance state. Worst of all, it is all being done for the benefit of one powerful billionaire. Anyone who thinks banning online gambling will not diminish our freedoms while enriching criminals is making a losing bet.

Missouri Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder makes stunning claim

National Guard and police failed to protect businesses targeted by rioters during last night’s chaos, leading to charges that the Obama administration issued a stand down order.


Earlier this morning, Missouri Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder made the stunning claim, telling Fox News, “Is the reason that the National Guard was not in there because the Obama Administration and the Holder Justice Department
leaned on you to keep them out? I cannot imagine any other reason why
the governor who mobilized the National Guard would not have them in
there to stop this.”


His comments followed Ferguson Mayor James Knowles’ complaint that his request for National Guard assistance was repeatedly ignored by Democrat Governor Jay Nixon last night.

With Everyone Focused on Ferguson, Obama Quietly Passing 3,400 New Regulations Before Thanksgiving

Although the government and mainstream media perfectly timed the Ferguson grand jury decision to go off right after President Obama passed executive amnesty (which, magically, no one in the mainstream media is talking about anymore), it also works out well for the White House that this event transpired right before the upcoming holiday.
Why, you might ask?
Because the Obama administration has prepared, for the fifth time now, to oh-so-quietly release 3,415 brand spanking new regulations right before Thanksgiving while everyone just so happens to be totally distracted and focusing on the orchestrated civil disorder going on in Ferguson.

The federal Unified Agenda is the Obama administration’s regulatory road map, and it lays out thousands of regulations being finalized in the coming months. Under President Barack Obama, there has been a tradition of releasing the agenda late on Friday — and right before a major holiday.
“It’s become an unfortunate tradition of this administration and others to drop these regulatory agendas late on a Friday and right before a holiday,” Matt Shudtz, executive director of the Center for Progressive Reform, told The Hill newspaper.

The White House’s regulatory agenda for spring 2014 was released on the eve of the Memorial Day weekend, when millions of people set out on weekend getaways or family vacations.
“It’s unfortunate because it’s an update on protections for Americans of all stripes,” Shudtz told the Hill. “It lays out the administration’s plan and it deserves more attention.”

Nice, right?
Apparently, this release comes new and improved with even more regulations than last time, and it even comes complete with the added bonus of having 189 rules which come with a nice fat price tag of $100 million.
It’s funny… Once upon a time, throwing out an amount like a hundred million would’ve made some people’s eyeballs literally pop out of their heads. I can use the word literally in a figurative sense now without being incorrect, because apparently we live in such an Idiocracy society that the official definition of the word “literally” has been updated to include “used for emphasis or to express strong feeling while not being literally true.”
… I’m not even kidding.

See?
Anyway, who knows what evil will be lurking in those 3,415 new regulations. No, really. Who knows? Hardly anyone knows, because these regs will be slipped in under cover of concocted protests in Ferguson, a plate full of turkey and stuffing, and a football game.

Defeat of USA FREEDOM Act is a Victory for Freedom

It will not shock readers to hear that quite often legislation on Capitol Hill is not as advertised. When Congress wants to do something particularly objectionable, they tend give it a fine-sounding name. The PATRIOT Act is perhaps the best-known example. The legislation had been drafted well before 9/11 but was going nowhere. Then the 9/11 attacks gave it a new lease on life. Politicians exploited the surge in patriotism following the attack to reintroduce the bill and call it the PATRIOT Act. To oppose it at that time was, by design, to seem unpatriotic.
At the time, 62 Democrats voted against the Act. On the Republican side there were only three no votes: former Rep. Bob Ney (R-OH), former Rep. Butch Otter (R-ID), and myself.
The abuses of the Constitution in the PATRIOT Act do not need to be fully recounted here, but Presidents Bush and Obama both claimed authority based on it to gut the Fourth Amendment. The PATRIOT Act ushered in the era of warrantless wiretapping, monitoring of our Internet behavior, watering down of probable cause, and much more. After the revelations by whistleblower Edward Snowden, we know how the NSA viewed constitutional restraints on surveillance of American people during the PATRIOT Act period.

After several re-authorizations of the PATRIOT Act, including some cosmetic reforms, Congress last October unveiled the USA FREEDOM Act. This was advertised as the first wholesale PATRIOT Act Reform bill. In fact, the House version was watered down to the point of meaninglessness and the Senate version was not much better. The final straw was the bill’s extension of key elements of the PATRIOT Act until 2017.

Fortunately, last week the USA FREEDOM Act was blocked from further consideration in the US Senate. The procedural vote was significant and important, but it caused some confusion as well. While some well-meaning pro-privacy groups endorsed the FREEDOM Act as a first step to reform, some anti-liberty neoconservatives opposed the legislation because even its anemic reforms were unacceptable. The truth is, Americans should not accept one more extension of the PATRIOT Act and should not endorse its continued dismemberment of our constitutional liberties. If that means some Senators vote with anti-liberty colleagues to kill the extension, we should still consider it a victory.
As the PATRIOT Act first faced a sunset in 2005, I had this to say in the debate over whether it should be re-authorized:
“When Congress passed the Patriot Act in the emotional aftermath of the September 11th terrorist attacks, a sunset provision was inserted in the bill that causes certain sections to expire at the end of 2005. But this begs the question: If these provisions are critical tools in the fight against terrorism, why revoke them after five years? Conversely, if these provisions violate civil liberties, why is it acceptable to suspend the Constitution for any amount of time?”
Reform is often meant to preserve, not repeal bad legislation. When the public is strongly opposed to a particular policy you will almost never hear politicians say “let’s repeal the law.” It is always a pledge to reform the policy or law. The USA FREEDOM Act was no different.
With the failure of the FREEDOM Act to move ahead in the Senate last week, several of the most egregious sections of the PATRIOT Act are set to sunset next June absent a new authorization. Congress will no doubt be under great pressure to extend these measures. We must do our very best to make sure they are unsuccessful!

Shocker: Up to 30,000 Lois Lerner Emails “Recovered” “Does anyone else find it funny that suddenly – shortly after midterm elections – these emails have been recovered”

Well, well, well…what have we here?
Here’s what the Washington Examiner reported today:

Up to 30,000 missing emails sent by former Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner have been recovered by the IRS inspector general, five months after they were deemed lost forever.

The U.S. Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) informed congressional staffers from several committees on Friday that the emails were found among hundreds of “disaster recovery tapes” that were used to back up the IRS email system.

Does anyone else find it funny that suddenly – shortly after midterm elections – these emails have been recovered?
Is this timing a coincidence? I doubt it.
Remember, back in June, the IRS told us that they could not locate most of Lois Lerner’s emails. Lerner is a key figure in the Tea Party targeting scandal. The agency said that a computer crash in 2011 caused an untold number of emails to be wiped out.

Then the Watchdog organization Judicial Watch filed a FOIA request for the documents, and naturally, the IRS refused to provide them. It was only after the group filed a lawsuit that they were able to obtain the documents – which were quite damning:

Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton explained the implications of the new information:
“These new documents show that officials in the IRS headquarters were responsible for the illegal delays of Tea Party applications. It is disturbing to see Lois Lerner mislead the IRS’ internal investigators about her office’s Tea Party targeting.  These documents also confirm the unprecedented pressure from congressional Democrats to go after President Obama’s political opponents.  The IRS scandal has now ensnared Congress.”

The IRS claimed to have gone to great lengths to try to recover data from Lerner’s computer in 2011:

In emails provided by the IRS, technicians said they sent the computer to a forensic lab run by the agency’s criminal investigations unit. But to no avail.
The IRS was able to generate 24,000 Lerner emails from the 2009 to 2011 because Lerner had copied in other IRS employees. The agency said it pieced together the emails from the computers of 82 other IRS employees.
But an untold number are gone. Camp’s office said the missing emails are mainly ones to and from people outside the IRS, “such as the White House, Treasury, Department of Justice, FEC, or Democrat offices.”
Anti-tax advocate Grover Norquist called the episode “the worst attempt to blame technology in service of a cover-up since the infamous 18-minute gap” in former President Richard Nixon’s Watergate tapes.

In July, two US District Court judges ordered the IRS to start coughing up some answers. One judge gave IRS officials an August 10 deadline to provide a declaration – signed by an IRS official,  under oath – explaining exactly how the agency managed to “lose” two years’ worth of Lerner’s emails. Another judge gave the IRS until July 18 to find out what happened to the crashed hard drive responsible for erasing two years worth of Lerner’s emails. He also wanted to know if the hard drive is traceable through a serial number. If the information was truly gone, that judge said he wanted an affidavit written under penalty of perjury by an IRS IT professional with “firsthand knowledge” of the situation.
Then, surprise! In August, Department of Justice attorneys for the IRS admitted that Lois Lerner’s emails DO exist on a backup server, but said they would be hard to find.

Department of Justice attorneys for the Internal Revenue Service told Judicial Watch on Friday that Lois Lerner’s emails, indeed all government computer records, are backed up by the federal government in case of a government-wide catastrophe.  The Obama administration attorneys said that this back-up system would be too onerous to search.
The DOJ attorneys also acknowledged that the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) is investigating this back-up system.

And now, here’s what a Congressional aide told the Washington Examiner:

“They just said it took them several weeks and some forensic effort to get these emails off these tapes.”

TIGTA said it will take a few weeks to sort through the emails. Private taxpayer information will need to be redacted before the emails are presented to Congress.
Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) said late Friday that his committee is ready to examine those emails, and said he was hopeful they might shed light on how Lerner operated:

“Though it is unclear whether TIGTA has found all of the missing Lois Lerner emails, there may be significant information in this discovery,” he said. “The Oversight Committee will be looking for information about her mindset and who she was communicating with outside the IRS during a critical period of time when the IRS was targeting conservative groups.”

So much for a “phony” scandal. Looks like this is about to become more real than ever.

On November 21, 2014 the State of Connecticut’s Office of the Child Advocate issued a 114-page report, Shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School: Report of the Office of the Child Advocate (PDF), focusing on the ambiguous profile of Sandy Hook Elementary School shooter Adam Lanza that may become the basis for mental health practices throughout the United States.
With contributors including psychiatrists and academicians from education and social work departments, the publication comes just two months after the US Department of Health and Human Services and Department of Education announced over $160 million in funding for widescale research and deployment of mental health initiatives in the nation’s public schools.[1]
“OCA began a comprehensive collection and review of records related to the life of AL,” the document’s preamble reads, “including his medical, mental health and education records, as well as un-redacted state police and law enforcement records.”(p. 6).
Among 37 “key findings,” the statement expresses concern over “siloed systems of education, physical health, and mental health care for children” that “strongly implicate the need to assist parents with understanding and addressing the needs of children with complex developmental and mental health disorders” (p. 9).
Mandatory mental health “screenings” and “evaluations” are recommended to remedy the potential threat of further “Adam Lanzas.”

The following is a summary overview of the OCA report’s key recommendations, many of which will likely be recommended or mandated by federal education and public health authorities for adoption throughout the US.

• Universal screening for behavioral health and developmental impairments for children ages birth to 21.
• Referral for thorough evaluation and assessment by outside experts for a child “displaying the types of multidisciplinary developmental challenges AL presented…”
• Access to “quality care coordination” for children and their families.
• Access to training and information concerning mental health issues for teachers, administrators, service personnel, pediatricians, and parents.
• Staffing and financial supports for providers.
• Effective and sustained family engagement work as part of mental health treatment for children.
• Addressing of the “role of denial in illness.”
• Access to therapeutic services, psycho-education, and peer support for families.
• Readiness of “systems” to respond when a parent appears unwilling or unable to meet the needs of their child [aka refuses to medicate].
• Better outreach to parents who have difficulties “reaching out” or feel “mistrust in the medical and educational systems…”
• Active participation of schools concerning the mental health and wellness of their students.
• Support to schools to enable them to “retain or import therapeutic and other related services…”
• Evaluation of children by schools “in all areas of suspected disability, including conducting social-emotional evaluations…”
• A more “holistic approach to identification for special education eligibility that encourages attention to multiple aspects of disability…”
• State consideration of “an audit of existing homebound practices and procedures…”
• More attention paid to “post-secondary readiness for disabled youth and young adults…”
• “State and local educational and mental health and developmental services agencies must work together to identify current capacity and service delivery needs, training opportunities, and must create capacity-building services at all levels.”
• Increased workforce, technical support and expertise to help meet the needs of “children with complex developmental or mental health disorders, and their families.”
• Support for schools to provide and import “comprehensive health or developmental supports” to children with “highly specialized needs.”

In reality, the OCA report lays the groundwork for implementation of a nationwide program similar to the one presently being beta tested in Scotland, “Getting it Right for Every Child,” or GIRFEC. The GIRFEC project mandates assignment of a “Named Person for every child and young person, and a Lead Professional (where necessary) to co-ordinate and monitor multi-agency activity” that renders the traditional family to the role of a distant caretaker.
Using verbiage and notions remarkably similar to the the Harvard-affiliated and Newtown area psychiatrist John Woodall,[2] GIRFEC emphasizes the development of “resilient” young people who are capable of developing emotional detachment from instances of profound loss–such as natural disasters and active shooter events and evident in the recent promotion of slogans such as “Newtown Strong,” “Boston Strong,” and, most recently, “FSU United.”
Indeed, GIRFEC advocates maintain the program “enables children and young people to get the help they need when they need it” and overall “supports a positive shift in culture, systems and practice … to improve life chances for children, young people and families.”
Such a project increasingly lays bare the opportunistic use and perhaps true intent of the Sandy Hook massacre event: dramatically intensified bureaucratic and quasi-scientific control over the everyday lives of children alongside the continued erosion of the family itself.
