Old pic of Confederate flag a safety threat?

FratFlag

The chief of a publicly funded university has backtracked quickly on his claim that the image of a Confederate flag in a three-year-old photograph was “offensive” and “possibly even threatening.”

That claim was made by University of Missouri-Columbia Chancellor R. Bowen Loftin in a statement that was posted online.

At the Reason.com blog, Robby Soave wrote about it and quoted from it.

He reported that a Twitter account was collecting images of fraternities around the country, and one of them showed several people holding the Confederate flag in front of Columbia’s Phi Kappa Theta house.

The Maneater blog reported that the photograph “was likely taken in the days surrounding a September 8, 2012, football game between the University of Georgia and MU. Three of the five men in the photo are wearing Bulldogs apparel and a University of Georgia flag flies alongside the Confederate Navy Jack.”

Loftin immediately jumped at the challenge, announcing an investigation to identify those in the picture.

“Especially considering recent events in South Carolina concerning the Confederate flag, this photo may be considered offensive and possibly even threatening to some of our community members,” his statement said.

“MU officials do not condone any activities that could threaten the safety of our community.”

See the wide range of flags in the WND Superstore collection, including the Gadsden, the Union Civil War, the Continental Colors, the Bennington and more.

However, by Thursday, his statement had vanished from the school website.

In its place was one that backtracked rapidly.

“Yesterday, I received several messages via social media from concerned students and friends of MU about a photo taken at a Greek fraternity house near campus where individuals were posing with a Confederate flag,” he wrote. “After reviewing the photo and the context in which it was taken, we determined that it was taken three years ago and no MU students were in the photo.

“Based on this information, we will not be taking any additional actions.”

The Reason commentary noted, “Saying a photograph of the Confederate flag is offensive is one thing. Labeling it a threat is quite another. No one’s safety is impugned by the old photo, and it’s ludicrous to think otherwise.”

Lawmakers in South Carolina recently voted to remove a Confederate flag that had been flying outside their statehouse in Columbia because of June 17 mass shooting in Charleston.

The suspect there, Dylann Roof, is accused of murdering nine members of a Bible study group at a church.

During the investigation, photographs of Roof with a Confederate flag surfaced, sparking outrage at the emblem some people feel represents an era of hate, while others feel it represents a southern heritage.

The nation reacted to extremes, with networks taking old “Dukes of Hazzard” reruns off the air because the car, the General Lee, had a Confederate flag painted on its top. Major retailers all over suspended sales of Confederate-themed products, too.

Trump Inspires Unprecedented Media Witchhunt

trump

07/14/2015 / By shawn

When he first made allusions towards running for president, the liberal media shrugged, rolled its collective eyes, and laughed a little. When he announced, they did the same. But now that Donald Trump is gaining serious traction among Republican primary voters, those in the mainstream media whose duty it is to present America with the facts have sharpened their pitchforks. Trump is now a threat, and the press is eager to neutralize him before his appeal spreads beyond the conservative base.

As part of that effort, this week Meet the Press moderator Chuck Todd went as far as to compare Trump with Alabama’s infamous governor George Wallace. “I think the question is are the Republican leaders doing enough to distance themselves,” said Todd on Sunday. “Are they going to look back a year from now and say, ‘Boy, I should have been tougher?’ Is Jeb Bush going to say, ‘I should have just said, you know, I’m not going on a debate stage with that guy?’”

He pushed forward. “We’ve seen versions of Donald Trump over the years. And I just don’t mean versions of this Donald Trump, but George Wallace and things like this. This does happen. And they do strike a chord.”

But Todd fails to explain how Trump’s admittedly blunt comments on illegal immigration are akin to the obvious racism of a segregationist. He doesn’t actually have to, because the media has already made that case ad nauseum. They have cast his remarks as originating from racism, failing to note that he has never said one bad word about Hispanics, Mexicans, or – it’s true – immigrants to the United States. From the start, anyone willing to give Trump’s remarks a moment of intelligent consideration can tell he is speaking only of illegals.

This difference is an important one because it also exposes the deception the media has used to supposedly disprove Trump’s argument. When Trump says that Mexico is sending crime across the border, he’s not talking about immigrants who go through the proper system. He’s talking only of those who sneak past the fence. But when liberals attack his points with statistics, they use the entire population of immigrants, both legal and non. They do not, however, bother to point out that’s what they’re doing.

The Donald Trump witchhunt is extraordinary and nearly unprecedented. This is a media scared to death of true conservatism, and they are terrified that Trump is going to change a lot of minds out there when it comes to the border. That would undo years of dedicated Democratic strategy, so it’s obvious why they’re so eager to shut him down.

NAACP WANTS STONE MOUNTAIN CONFEDERATE GENERALS SAND-BLASTED OFF, MOUNT RUSHMORE NEXT?

Largest bas relief sculpture in the world could be destroyed in the name of political correctness

by PAUL JOSEPH WATSON | JULY 14, 2015

The Atlanta chapter of the NAACP has called for the iconic and intricate Stone Mountain carvings which feature confederate generals to be sand-blasted off and wiped from the pages of history.

In the name of political correctness, NAACP’s Richard Rose told WSB-TV that symbols of the Confederacy should be removed from all state-owned buildings, parks and lands in the area, including a carving which depicts Stonewall Jackson, Robert E. Lee, and Jefferson Davis.

The carving, which is the largest bas relief sculpture in the world and is bigger than a football field and Mount Rushmore, was started in 1923 and not fully completed until 1972.

“The figures were completed with the detail of a fine painting. Eyebrows, fingers, buckles and even strands of hair were fine-carved with a small thermo-jet torch,” according to the official Stone Mountain website.

But that means little when up against the purge of all symbols of the Confederacy in the aftermath of the Charleston shootings, a hysterical knee-jerk backlash that has led some to call for renaming “racist” American cities like Washington DC in an effort to bury America’s past and replace it with a sanitized imitation.

“Those guys need to go. They can be sand-blasted off, or somebody could carefully remove a slab of that and auction it off to the highest bidder,” Rose said.

The decision on whether the Stone Mountain carvings will be literally sand-blasted from history will be in the hands of the Georgia Legislature.

How long before the iconic southeastern face of Mount Rushmore, which features four presidents carved into the rock, is also defaced and destroyed in the name of political correctness? After all, two of those men – Thomas Jefferson and George Washington – owned slaves.

If you think that’s completely outside the realms of possibility then you must have missed a discussion on CNN last month during which hosts Ashleigh Banfield and Don Lemon said the time was coming when the removal of Jefferson monuments would have to be considered.

Memphis City Council also just voted unanimously to dig up and move the remains of Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest and sell off his statue to the highest bidder.

In attempting to wipe monuments and symbols from the pages of history, so-called “progressives” are appropriating a similar mentality to ISIS terrorists, who have spent the last year tearing down historical statues and monuments because they offend their radical belief system.

Extreme leftists, emboldened by how they have been allowed to exploit the tragic shooting in Charleston, are now on a censorious rampage that knows no bounds.

Who knows where it will end?

Judge Halts Merger of Two of the Largest Food Corporations on the Planet

In fear of rising food prices and more

A judge recently halted the merging of two of the largest food corporations in the world – Sysco and US Foods. Think of Sysco and US Foods like Comcast and Time Warner Cable. Were they to merge, the global market would be under the control of two corporations who already distribute ‘food’ to the masses which likely causes diabetes, obesity, digestive disorders, and neurological disease – only with twice the power to do so.

Sysco and US Foods have been trying to merge for over a year now, but just weeks ago, a judge filed a preliminary injunction to halt the proposed merger. This amounts to a fatal blow to two companies that have already done more than their part to ruin the food supply.

The decision is also a victory for the Federal Trade Commission, which sued in February to block the deal on the grounds that it would lead to higher prices and worse service for customers like restaurants and schools.

The FTC failed to mention the practice of Big Food to serve up absolute garbage to our school children, or to stock grocery store shelves with brands that contain health-damaging ingredients such as MSG, high fructose corn syrup, GMOs, artificial colorings and flavors, and about ten thousand other ingredients that don’t belong in what we eat. (For a list of US Foods brands, click here.) To see what kind of nutrition-lacking goop Sysco serves up, click here.

10 compaies control all the food

Sadly, there are really only ten food companies that control almost every brand we buy in traditional grocery stores. Instead of growing organically on small farms and practicing sustainable agriculture, these mega-companies look for the cheapest way to call some chemicals in a pretty box ‘food’ and pass it off to us consumers.

If you see your favorite brand in the infographic above, look for alternatives. You can be a part of dissolving the non-food food empire.
