A dashcam video clip at the center of a lawsuit shows St. Louis police abruptly turning off the camera before they continue to assault an 18-year-old man, with one officer heard to announce, “Hold up, everybody, hold up. We’re red right now, so if you guys are worried about cameras, just wait.”
The video shows Cortez Bufford being dragged from his car before he is repeatedly shocked with a taser and kicked by officers.
At least seven officers pile on Bufford while he is being kicked and tased. Officers later claimed he was resisting arrest.
Although the struggle seems to be over and Bufford appears to be subdued, Officer Kelli Swinton approaches his colleague’s patrol car before announcing to the other cops, “Hold up. Hold up, y’all. Hold up. Hold up, everybody, hold up. We’re red right now, so if you guys are worried about cameras, just wait.”
“Red” is cop slang for a running camera. The camera’s audio then goes silent before the video stops altogether seconds later.
According to Bufford’s attorneys, their client “got banged up pretty good” after the camera was turned off. Dashcam footage from a separate vehicle shows officers continuing to huddle around Bufford but then that footage also shuts off. After a two minute gap, “Bufford is seen on it again, stumbling and falling once as he’s taken to a police vehicle,” according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.[1]
Bufford’s lawyer Joel Schwartz asserts that the initial reason for the stop, reports of shots fired, was unconnected to Bufford who was pulled over for performing a legal U-turn. A 9mm pistol was recovered from Bufford’s vehicle.
“While police have refused to comment on the officers turning off their video, they have stood by the use of force in regards to the incident. Had they not turned off the cameras, police probably would have had a case against Bufford; instead their insidiousness got the best of these cops,” writes Matt Agorist.[2]
The charges against Bufford for unlawful use of a weapon and resisting arrest were dropped and he is now seeking damages from four of the officers involved in the incident, which occurred on April 10 last year. Bufford suffered abrasions to his fingers, face, back, head, ears and neck, and incurred medical bills of $6,439.32, according to the lawsuit.
There have been many previous examples where dashcams have been mysteriously turned off before suspects are beaten, but officers normally claim that they “malfunctioned”.

A retired teacher is facing 10 years in prison for having a 250-year-old, unloaded pistol in his car.
Gordon Van Gilder, 72, was charged with a felony in New Jersey after he told a Cumberland Co. sheriff’s deputy he had a flintlock pistol in his car during a traffic stop last November.
“It’s a mid-1700s flintlock, bonafide antique pistol unloaded, and yet he’s facing the same draconian penalty as if he had a .44 Magnum loaded on his person,” his attorney Evan Nappen told NRA News. “It doesn’t matter [to N.J.]; there’s no distinction.”
Van Gilder, a self-described historian, purchased the pistol as part of his collection of 18th century artifacts.
“He’s obviously no threat to anyone, and he’s facing up to 10 years in state prison with a minimum mandatory three-and-a-half to five years with no chance of parole because New Jersey’s modern handgun law includes antique handguns,” Nappen continued.
The prosecutor even told Nappen the state would have to perform ballistic testing on the black powder pistol, even though its smooth bore doesn’t leave a ballistic trace.
“Gordon’s case screams out for making New Jersey’s gun laws in comforming with federal law [because] federal law has antique firearms as an exemption,” Nappen said. “This should have never happened.”
Even though federal law provides safe passage for a driver transporting firearms through a restrictive jurisdiction such as N.J., the jury never heard about the law during Reininger’s trial.
An appeals court also claimed that the law didn’t apply in his case because the SUV he was driving did not have a trunk.
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights…” These words are probably the best known in the Declaration of Independence, but perhaps not by CNN anchor Chris Cuomo (shown).
Either that, or he simply doesn’t believe them. Because while debating the constitutionality of faux marriage Thursday morning, he said that our rights do not come from God, but man.
Toward the end of a passionate exchange with Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore in which the latter asserted that rights cannot be a product of man, Cuomo made his remark, saying, “Our rights do not come from God. That’s your faith, that’s my faith, but that’s not our country. Our laws come from collective agreement and compromise.”
Thomas Jefferson, who wrote the Declaration of Independence, might be surprised to hear this. And there may be some who’d lament that the Founding Fathers didn’t have Chris Cuomo around to set them straight before ol‘ Tom put pen to paper. But others might note that Cuomo’s opinion was a very shallow statement that gets at some very deep issues.
First, the newsman seems to be confusing “laws” with “rights.” If our rights are from God, they exist apart from governmental laws, which man does create. And then one of the main purposes of law is to recognize and protect those rights. This is why the Declaration states, immediately after the pronouncement on Creator-endowed rights, “That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men.” These rights are secured by government via the creation and enforcement of just law.
Michael Snyder Activist Post U.S. public schools have become houses of horror for many special needs students. According to the Virginia Commission on Youth, special needs students account for only 12 percent of all public school students in the United States, but they "represent 75 percent of those physically restrained and 58 percent of those secluded." At some schools, physical restraints used on special needs children include handcuffs, duct tape and bungee cords. And often the scream rooms that these children are “isolated” in are so horrifying that it scars many of them for life. One of the key measures for any society is how it treats those that are most vulnerable. And the way that we are treating our special needs children is sorely lacking. Hopefully articles like this one will help bring awareness and change. Yes, there are some education professionals that have a real heart for special needs kids and that do a great job working with them. Unfortunately, there simply is not enough of them. A lot of public school officials that end up dealing with special needs children have received little or no specialized training, and the consequences can be absolutely disastrous.

An autistic boy has described how his teachers would pin him down, drag him through a hallway and lock him in a concrete ‘scream room’.
Carson Luke still has nightmares about the harrowing experience four years ago at a school for the disabled in Chesapeake, Virginia.
The 13-year-old was sent into the secluded chamber – hidden behind metal doors and separated from the main school building – after an aggressive outburst in 2011.
When he was inside workers turned on a ventilation fan to drown out his screaming.
The ordeal were so haunting the youngster would fly into a panic when the room was talked about.
Can you imagine? In one instance, officials at the school broke the boy’s hand as they were forcing him inside the “scream room”…
One on occasion, faculty members broke his hand after trapping it in the heavy door as they tried to force him inside. The wound was so deep the bone was exposed and he required surgery.
He told his story as newly-released documents from the Department of Education reveal some teachers use handcuffs, bungee cords and duct tapes to restrain students.
I would never allow my child to go to a school where they would employ such tactics. But these days most parents have no idea what is going on at school. They just assume that their children are being treated with respect. At the school that this young boy attended, “seclusion” was used on kids a whopping 559 times during 2011, and physical restraints were used 177 times. In other cases elsewhere in the nation, special needs children are being openly mocked and ridiculed. Sometimes even the teachers join in. Stephen Davis, 15, a freshman at Streamwood High School in Illinois, watched in horror as a cartoon-like sketch with buck teeth, hairy ears, bloodshot eyes, tentacles, a scar and a runny nose was labeled as ‘Stephen’s ugly ass’ by a substitute teacher, who did this in front of his entire math class.
Davis, who weighs 330 pounds, recorded the entire incident on his phone, leaving no doubt as to what the teacher did.
All of this is very shocking, but it did not occur in a vacuum. The truth is that these are just more symptoms of the overall moral decay that is eating away at our society like a cancer. We don’t treat special needs children with the kindness, love and respect they deserve because our hearts are growing cold and wicked. Another issue that deserves to be addressed is why there are so many special needs kids in our schools today. When I was growing up, I did not know of a single special needs child in our neighborhood. And I did not know of a single special needs kid in my entire high school. But now they make up 12 percent of the entire public school population and that number is growing quickly. Could it be possible that there is something that we are doing to our children that is causing this? Everyone agrees that the number of autistic children in America is exploding. Everyone agrees that these vaccines contain ingredients which are highly toxic to humans. And since we inject them directly into the bloodstreams of our children, these ingredients largely bypass the amazing filtering systems that our human bodies possess. So could it be possible that there is a link between these vaccines and the unprecedented rise in autism that we are seeing? I have personally read hundreds of stories from devastated parents that say that their kids were perfectly healthy and normal until they got their shots. We are giving our children way too many vaccines way too soon, and it is creating a nightmare. Heather Callaghan Activist Post An award-winning, nationally recognized teacher gave a "mic-dropping" speech that ends with the announcement of her teaching resignation at Elyria, OH public schools. Stacie Starr was not just any teacher, however. She was the number one finalist in 2014's “Live with Kelly and Michael” 'Top Teacher' award, a people's choice and enviable contest of sorts. It's like the "American Idol" for teacher contestants, and it drove her into the national limelight. This prompted many news segments to ask her how it felt to win that kind of recognition. In multiple pieces you can see her getting tearfully choked up at the honor, and calling it one of the greatest days of her entire life. Furthermore, she did not simply download information into her learning-disabled, at-risk students - she taught them how to think. That is why she was recognized! That was near the end of the 2013-2014 school year, so for her to announce her resignation the following year, nowhere near retirement age, is astonishing and enough to make the greater majority of people to say, "what gives?" In the speech below, she will tell you exactly what gives. But more than that, this speech is utterly heart wrenching because it erupts in tears of another kind. Earlier this month, Starr was merely to provide information at a Lorain County Education Forum about PARCC testing as it relates to special education students. PARCC is the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers, a coalition of states that is using the test to drive Common Core by assessing students (and teachers) to see how "up to par" they are on the new, fast-paced and nonsensical programming.
What is even more insidious, is that special needs students have been left out of the mix to fall by the wayside. By that I mean, while they are normally allowed to have helps for their disability (like having the test read aloud), they are not allowed any such thing with PARCC. Which means that PARCC is acting outside and above the law with a "survival of the fittest" standard. Starr demonstrates the irony of all the children becoming "left behind" in this new system. Hear the disturbing account of Robert Oppenheimer, the Manhattan Project, A-Bomb, and Truman's decision to bomb questions being used for 9th grade reading! She also shows how PARCC and Common Core will contribute to the school-to-prison pipeline. She explains what happens when you ask a modern student a question - "they can. not. think. for themselves."
The Chronicle-Telegram report, which comes via PJ Media: Gasps of disbelief followed the announcement made during an education forum aimed at unraveling for parents the intricacies of the standardized testing system. Starr was at the podium, delivering a talk on how special education students are suffering under the new system based on Common Core standards and more rigorous assessments. She said as a veteran intervention specialist at Elyria High School, she could no longer watch silently from within the confines of a structured school day. Starr spoke of her reasons for leaving teaching, saying: “I can’t do it anymore, not in this ‘drill ‘em and kill ‘em’ atmosphere,” adding, “I don’t think anyone understands that in this environment if your child cannot quickly grasp material, study like a robot and pass all of these tests, they will not survive.” Starr was not alone, though. At the public event where she announced her intention to resign at the end of the school year, other teachers from Elyria High School voiced their skepticism about new teaching standards and the contemplations of resigning.
PARCC is another insidious privatized thread, intertwined with Common Core instillation and is worthy of its own articles. Cassius Methyl Activist Post The president signed an executive order Saturday after a speech at a ‘Cyber Security Summit’ at Stanford University, while many were distracted with Valentine’s Day. The ever-hated CISPA legislation has stalled in Congress thanks to public outcry, but Obama has decided to act on his own. “Executive Order — Promoting Private Sector Cybersecurity Information Sharing” was apparently intended to coerce organizations and corporations to share more info with the government, while promoting the creation of organizations to process data collected for an unspecified end. The executive order specifically talks about the formation of ‘Information Sharing and Analysis Organizations’ (ISAOs), Orwellian corporate and/or government organizations that process massive amounts of data collected from people through every imaginable way. This obviously can’t be good. The tech sector is already voicing its skepticism of the bill, citing government overreach and lack of reforms to the NSA’s spying program:
Typical of these concerns were the remarks of Apple CEO Tim Cook who gave a vigorous speech at the same Stanford cyber meeting that seemed to challenge the president’s appeal for greater cooperation. Cook issued a dire warning that the threat to privacy posed by technology “risks our way of life.” […] Other major tech CEOs snubbed the White House cyber summit at Stanford, reflecting private sector worries. The no-shows included Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer, Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Google executives Larry Page and Eric Schmidt.
The Secretary of Homeland Security (Secretary) shall strongly encourage the development and formation of Information Sharing and Analysis Organizations (ISAOs). […] (b) ISAOs may be organized on the basis of sector, sub-sector, region, or any other affinity, including in response to particular emerging threats or vulnerabilities. ISAO membership may be drawn from the public or private sectors, or consist of a combination of public and private sector organizations. ISAOs may be formed as for-profit or nonprofit entities.
The president predictably utilized his refined lying skills and charisma to fear-monger a bit; saying,
As a country, one of our greatest resources are the young people, the digitally fearless. But it also means that the problem of how we secure this digital world will only increase.
So this order looks like it will serve to back up current NSA operations, and shift some power to the Department of Homeland Security. It also looks like they may fund the creation of ‘ISAO’s. I highly recommend you read it for yourself, it is not very long. They essentially are expanding upon the foundation they have been constructing for multiple government and non-government, non-profit and of course for profit ‘ISAO’s. The President wants to build a kind of web of infrastructure reminiscent of the military-industrial-complex, except for mass surveillance. The question is: what exactly will this function to do? What will these ‘Information Sharing and Analysis Organizations’ actually accomplish, and who will be incarcerated or targeted as a result of their work? John Vibes Activist Post For years, the alternative media has been exploring the possibility of advanced surgical technology, like implantable microchips and their possible advantages and disadvantages. These legitimate possibilities have been overlooked and ignored by many, but now this type of technology is actually being promoted by the mainstream media. CNN reported that a team of US researchers are suggesting that implantable brain chips could help people restore their memory. The team expects to implant a “small number” of human volunteers with brain chips in the very near future. If the trials go well, the team hopes to start implanting microchips into the brains of their patients within a ten-year time period. This research is nothing new, though, it has been going on for nearly two decades. In fact, there are currently over 80,000 people who currently have microchips in their brain to treat epilepsy or Parkinson's disease. “It’s now commonly accepted that humans will have electrodes put in them — it’s done for epilepsy, deep brain stimulation, (that has made it) easier for investigative research, it’s much more acceptable now than five to 10 years ago,” Rob Hampson, associate professor of physiology and pharmacology at Wake Forest University says.
Mark Goodman, former FBI and secret service employee has warned that the rise of this type of technology could lead to brain hackers. According to Goodman, brain implants may not even be necessary for someone to erase your memory or read your mind, but a microchip would certainly make it a lot easier. “I think holding people’s memories hostage in demand of an extortion payment would be a fairly horrific crime. Of course, this is all theoretical now. We do not have the capacity to do this. But I thoroughly believe it will be forthcoming. I think we’ll see more of that, which could lead to all kinds of problems. Forget memorizing passwords—somebody could just pull that data from a brain scan,” said Goodman. “Once organized crime figures out how to do this, I could see a horrific scenario wherein somebody is kidnapped and threatened that unless they pay an exorbitant sum, their lifelong memories of their wife or daughter would be erased,” he added.
