Polish Farmers Blockade Motorways Across Country

This week thousands of Polish family farmers from the Solidarity trade union turned out to protest in over 50 locations across the country. Over 150 tractors have been blockading the A2 motorway into Warsaw since the 3rd February and hundreds more have closed roads and are picketing governmental offices in other regions. The farmers are vowing to continue the struggle until the government agrees to enter talks with the union and commit to addressing what they see as a crisis in Polish agriculture.
These actions represent a dramatic escalation of protests that have been simmering across the country over the last year. Edward Kosmal, chairman of the farmers protest committee for West-Pomeranian Region said:

We are ready for dialogue. We look forward to meeting with you Prime Minister and beginning a comprehensive government commitment to solving the problems of Polish agriculture. If you do not enter into a dialogue with the Union, we would be forced to tighten our forms of protest.

The four key demands of the farmers are:

• Land rights – implement regulation to prevent land-grabs by Western companies and to protect family farmers rights to land – (NB. From 2016 foreign buyers will be legally able to buy Polish land).
• Legalize direct sales of farm produce – the government must take action to improve farmers’ position in the market, including the adoption of a law to facilitate direct sales of processed and unprocessed farm products (NB. Poland has the most exclusionary policies in Europe around on-farm processing of food products and direct sales, which make it impossible for family farmers to compete with bigger food companies).
• Extend inheritance laws to include land under lease as a fully legal form of land use.
• Ban the cultivation and sale of Genetically Modified Organisms in Poland

Marijuana may be effective against depression resulting from chronic stress, according to neuroscientists at the University of Buffalo’s Research Institute on Addictions.



The chemicals in cannabis are comparable to the endocannabinoids our body produces which combat pain and anxiety, and the neuroscientists found that when stressed rats were given marijuana, their endocannabinoid levels increased.



“Using compounds derived from cannabis — marijuana — to restore normal endocannabinoid function could potentially help stabilize moods and ease depression,” lead researcher Dr. Samir Haj-Dahmane said in a press release.



The findings follow a recent study which found that marijuana can ease chronic pain much more effectively than many conventional medications.





“Researchers from the Australian National Drug and Alcohol centre found that patients with chronic pain who used the drug said it eased their symptoms better opioid medications, which are highly addictive and can cause accidental overdoses,” Kashmira Gander ofthe Independent reported. “The study analyzed 1,500 patients, aged in their late 40s and early 50s, who suffered from conditions including back pain, migraines and arthritis, and were being prescribed with heavy-duty opioid medications, such as morphine and oxycodone.”



And another study last year found that patients who smoked marijuana experienced a 75% loss in post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms.



“The uses of the cannabis plant far extend beyond ‘getting high’ — to the degree that it was ultimately ruled to be illegal in all forms thanks to mega-billion dollar corporations fearing its many uses that extend even into the realm of construction and agriculture,” Anthony Gucciardi wrote. “Because, as you are probably aware, industrial-grade hemp (a high-growing variety of cannabis) can be used in protein shakes, building materials, oils used for the prevention and treatment of disease, and actually does not get you high.”



“As the realization within the United States comes into focus surrounding the practical and health-related uses of marijuana, especially in its ‘no high’ non-THC form that only serves to enhance one’s health and state, it’s becoming more clear than ever that a serious role exists for hemp within the U.S. and beyond.”

Wife Tells Father of Newborn Son With Down Syndrome to Get Rid of Him or Get a Divorce

Samuel Forrest was excited to be a new dad and was pacing the halls of the hospital outside his wife’s hospital room when he heard his newborn son cry for the first time. But when the doctor left the room, Samuel saw a look on his face that alerted him something was wrong.

Doctors and hospital staff refused to let Samuel see his son, named Leo.

“When the doctor came out, he said ‘there’s a real problem with your son,’” Samuel told ABC News.

The doctor told Samuel that his son Leo had Down syndrome and, though he admitted he was shocked by the news, Samuel said that he never envisioned not taking his son home from the hospital. But his wife had other plans. When Samuel entered his wife’s room, she told him he would have to either give up his son or she would file for divorce.

Samuel decided to keep his son and, a week later, his wife filed for divorce.

Now, Samuel says he plans to move back to his home country of New Zealand and raise his son, but he is worried about not being able to financially provide for his little boy. Samuel has has set up aGoFundMe page that is already drawing worldwide interest and support — with well over $125,000 given to help Samuel and Leo.

“Thanks everyone – we are stunned beyond words at the incredible support & love you’ve shown for little Leo,” Samuel says on the page. “9 days after we started our campaign, Leo and I found out in the wee hours of morning that we had crossed our target! He is a lucky guy to have the support of thousands of friends like you around the world.”

“Some of the additional funds that we have raised will be used to secure better living conditions in Auckland, and to give Leo higher quality opportunities when it comes to education – a good home and school cost money, but Leo will have all that and more, thanks to you,” he added. “We will use some of the money you’ve given to fund facilities and programs here in Armenia that will support future parents to keep their kids despite all disabilities, and to help better care for the special ones who end up away from their Mom & Dad. We’d also like to share the surplus funds with the only orphanage in Armenia that regularly takes abandoned Down Syndrome babies as well as other organisations that can help these children – thanks to your support we can start to make a difference already.”

Here’s more on this heartbreaking story:

“This pediatrician walks out of the room with a little bundle — that was Leo,” Forrest said. “She had his face covered up and hospital authorities wouldn’t let me see him or my wife. When the doctor came out, he said ‘there’s a real problem with your son.'”

Forrest followed doctors and nurses into a room where he’d finally get to meet his baby.

“When I walked into the room they all turned to me and said ‘Leo has Down syndrome,'” he told ABC News. “I had a few moments of shock.”

After the news had sunk in, Forrest held Leo for the very first time.

“They took me in see him and I looked at this guy and I said, he’s beautiful — he’s perfect and I’m absolutely keeping him.”

Soon Forrest walked into his wife’s hospital room with Leo in his arms.

Her reaction was unlike one he ever expected.

“I got the ultimatum right then,” he said. “She told me if I kept him then we would get a divorce.”

Commercial illustrates narcissism of environmental movement

CNN is airing a creepy anti-human PSA which features Julia Roberts as the voice of “Mother Nature” bragging about how she has “starved species greater than you.”

The commercial is the work of Conservation International, an environmental organization that has received criticism for its links with corporations such as BP, Cargill, Chevron, Monsanto and Shell. The company wasalso embarrassed when it fell for a prank in which reporters posed as representatives of an international arms dealer looking to improve their “green” profile.

The PSA is part of the group’s ‘Nature is Speaking’ series, which also features the likes of Kevin Spacey, Robert Redford and Harrison Ford.

In the ad, the voice of “Mother Nature” sets itself up as adversarial to humans, noting, “I’ve been here for over four and a half billion years, 22,500 times longer than you, I don’t really need people.”

“I have fed species greater than you and I have starved species greater than you,” states Roberts as her tone becomes more aggressive. “My oceans, my soil, my flowing streams, my forests, they all can take you or leave you.”

The PSA ends with the text “nature doesn’t need people” to the backdrop of the earth in space. The ad aired yesterday on CNN at the end of the network’s flagship Amanpour global affairs program.

One wonders just exactly what the organization considers to be a “greater” species than human beings. Last time I checked, dinosaurs didn’t paint the Sistine Chapel, travel to the moon, invent the internal combustion engine or create the Internet.

The narcissism of the organization in assuming the role of the ‘voice of Mother Nature’ is also illustrative of the tremendous arrogance that pervades the environmental movement.

The relegation of humanity to a sub-species which is characterized as a virus upon the earth is a common theme for big environmental groups.

Indeed, on page 75 of their 1990 publication entitled The First Global Revolution, the Club of Rome outlined how they would characterize humanity as an enemy in order to manipulate the public into accepting the imposition of a dictatorial world government run by them.

“In searching for a common enemy against whom we can unite, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill…. All these dangers are caused by human intervention… The real enemy, then, is humanity itself,” states the report.

In 2010, climate change activist group 10:10 Global was forced to issue an apology after it released a video which depicted school children who refused to lower their carbon footprint being violently executed. The ad was funded in part by taxpayer money through government bodies.

The anti-human bloodlust shared by many global warming alarmists rears its ugly head on a fairly regular basis.

Finnish environmentalist guru Pentti Linkola caused controversy when he called for climate change deniers be “re-educated” in eco-gulags, while the rest of humans would either be killed or enslaved by a ‘green’ police state.

This sentiment was echoed by author and environmentalist Keith Farnish, who in his book called for acts of sabotage and environmental terrorism, namely blowing up dams and demolishing cities in order to return the planet to the agrarian age. Prominent NASA global warming alarmist and Al Gore ally Dr. James Hansen endorsed Farnish’s book.

In 2006, Dr. Eric R. Pianka, an American biologist based at the University of Texas in Austin, received warm applause during a speech to the Texas Academy of Science when advocated the need to exterminate 90% of the world’s population through the an airborne mutation of the Ebola virus.

Prince Philip, the husband of the Queen of England, shared similar views when he expressed his desire to be reincarnated, “as a deadly virus, to contribute something to solving overpopulation.”
