THERE IS NO INFLATION (UNLESS YOU EAT FOOD, USE WATER, LIVE IN A HOUSE, GET SICK, GO TO SCHOOL, OR DO TAXES)

Your government keepers will continue to drown you in propaganda and misinformation

Government data reports are so funny. The blaring headlines today tells us that prices dropped in December. We are all saving billions from the drop in oil and gas. Hallelujah!!!

The corporate MSM never digs into the numbers to get the real truth. These reports and their distribution to the sheep are designed to keep you sedated and calm. Facts are not necessary. How this data pertains to your everyday life is not important to the .1% who control the flow of information.

http://www.bls.gov/news.release/cpi.t07.htm
Here is a link to the detailed inflation numbers by category. We already know they massage these numbers to achieve a happy ending, but even the massaged numbers tell an entirely different story than the one peddled to the masses by the government and corporate media.

Below are the annual price increases for items that might impact your life on a daily basis:

Food at home – 3.7%

Food away from home – 3.0%

Meat – 12.7%

Fish and seafood – 5.6%

Eggs – 10.7%

Milk – 5.2%

Fruits & vegetables – 4.1%

Coffee – 4.2%

Butter – 22.5%

Natural gas – 5.8

Footwear – 2.8%

Prescription drugs – 6.4%

Newspapers & magazines – 4.8%

College textbooks – 5.0%

Cigarettes – 3.1%

Apartment rent – 3.4%

Owners equivalent rent – 2.6%

Hotels – 7.3%

Water & sewer – 5.6%

Medical care -2.4%

Hospital care – 4.9%

College tuition – 3.4%

Postage – 4.1%

Tax preparation – 6.1%

I don’t know about you, but the costs listed above account for a significant amount of my budget. Do those price increases jive with the message being spewed by the government controlled media?

The credibility of their numbers is highly questionable in that they say health insurance accounts for .75% of a person’s annual budget. They actually have the balls to say health insurance fell by 0.5% over the last year. I’d love to hear from anyone out there whose health insurance premiums fell in the last year. Mine went up by 20%.

Your government keepers will continue to drown you in propaganda and misinformation. But the average person should know they are being lied to. They see how much money they have left over at the end of every month. If any.

The Silk Road Trial Continues After Dramatic Revelations | Ben Swann Truth In Media

The Silk Road Trial Continues After Dramatic Revelations | Ben Swann Truth In Media

By: Derrick Broze Jan 19, 2015

“Silk Road was founded on libertarian principles and continues to be operated on them. It is a great idea and a great practical system…It is not a utopia. It is regulated by market forces, not a central power (even I am subject to market forces by my competition. No one is forced to be here). The same principles that have allowed Silk Road to flourish can and do work anywhere human beings come together. The only difference is that the State is unable to get its thieving murderous mitts on it.”
- Dread Pirate Roberts

New York City – On Tuesday the trial of Silk Road creator Ross Ulbricht will continue in a federal courthouse in the Southern District of New York City.

Ulbricht is accused of trafficking drugs on the Internet, narcotics-trafficking conspiracy, computer-hacking conspiracy and money-laundering conspiracy for his role as the creator of the Silk Road and for allegedly being the man behind the online persona that ran the marketplace, Dread Pirate Roberts. In the first week of the trial the prosecution attempted to convince the jury that Ulbricht was DPR by showcasing exhibit after exhibit of drugs purchased by undercover officer with the Homeland Security Investigations.

The government claims that Ulbricht was running the administrative side of the website during these and other drug purchases and thus should be held responsible for the purchases. The government is claiming Ulbricht is responsible under something known as “transferred intent”.This doctrine will allow the government to attempt to convince the jury that Ulbricht is responsible for the activities of the website itself, whether or not he was directly involved. Ross’s mother Lyn Ulbricht has said that if the precedent is set during her son’s trial it could “put a chill on the internet.”

Indeed, if the governments arguments convince the jury that Ulbricht is guilty of the crimes by simply hosting them it could create a dangerous situation where website owners could be held responsible for users comments on a site, or for the products sold on ebay or craigslist.

As the IB Times wrote, “If found guilty he will go down as the first person in history to be convicted for the actions of the users of his website, rather than merely his own actions.”

The first week of the trial was not without controversy. At the end of day one, Judge Katherine Forrest warned the courtroom that if jury nullification activists were present outside the courtroom in the morning she would implement an “anonymous jury” that would be sequestered, and brought in through a “special location”. The Defense attorneys and Ulbricht family asked activists to discontinue the activities because they might do more harm than good. The fear is that if the jury is “anonymized” (a process usually reserved for high profile mafia and criminal kingpin cases) it may send the message that Ulbricht is dangerous or that the jurors are in danger.

Day two began with the prosecution continuing to question DHS agent and apparent Silk Road mole Jared Der-Yeghiayan. Lead prosecutor Serrin Turner presented several screenshots related to criminal activity on the Silk Road. He asked Deryeghiayan to explain each exhibit and how it related to illegal activity, including the purchase of illicit drugs and fraudulent documents.

While it has been demonstrated that drugs were in fact trafficked through the Silk Road, charges of conspiracy to traffic in hacking software and stolen passports have yet to be substantiated by the government. Even if the prosecution proves that drugs, fraudulent documents, and hacking software/services were in fact trafficked through Silk Road, they must still demonstrate that at the time of the alleged illegal activity, Ulbricht was acting as Dread Pirate Roberts, the Silk Road administrator.

In the late afternoon the prosecution questioned Der-Yeghiayan on the specifics of how the government arrested Ulbricht. Der-Yeghiayan said the DHS concocted a plan to get Ulbricht in a public place with internet to catch him chatting with the undercover agent as Dread Pirate Roberts. The government’s charges against Ulbricht depend on their ability to prove that Ulbricht was indeed Dread Pirate Roberts. To secure that evidence the arresting agents were instructed to pull the laptop first before grabbing Ulbricht.

On the third day of the trial the defense began poking holes in the prosecutions version of events. The Defense sought to prove that Der-Yeghiayan has suspected others of potentially being DPR, and even stated that he was unsure who or how many people were DPR. The court erupted when Der-Yeghiayan confirmed that he had suspected disgraced Mt GOX CEO, Mark Karpeles, and his right hand man, Ashley Barr, of being the masterminds behind Silk Road.

He even went so far as to sign an affidavit stating he had probable cause to get a warrant to search Karpeles’ emails. Der-Yeghiayan also expressed frustration with a parallel Baltimore, Maryland investigation that seized money from Karpeles associated with alleged illegal money transfer business, tipping him off to the fact that there was a government investigation underway. It was also revealed that Karpeles’ attorney told Maryland investigators he wanted to make a deal that he would say who he thought was behind Silk Roak in exchange for immunity for potential unlicensed money transfer business.

Last week’s proceedings finished with Judge Forrest dismissing the jurors early so the Defense and Prosecution could work out exactly what evidence would be allowed into the court room. The prosecution argued that alternative investigations being conducted by Der-Yeghiayan amounted to hearsay and were “irrelevant”. At one point Judge Forrest said she believed the evidence to be very relevant and the court room broke out in laughter. When court returns on Tuesday the judge will allow both sides to present supporting cases before she decides if the jury should hear about the other investigation.

The jury will also be hearing from a computer expert who was in possession of Ulbricht’s computer after his arrest. This might lead to a better understanding of exactly how the government was able to find Ross Ulbricht. The authorities claim they were able to track Ulbricht after a simple hole in his security was allegedly located because of a faulty CAPTCHA page. The CAPTCHA page is a security feature that jumbles characters and asks a user to enter the characters to prove they are not a bot.

However, Nicholas Weaver, a researcher at the International Computer Science Institute and University of California, called the FBI’s version of event “inconsistent with reality”. Online security and privacy researcher Nik Cubrilovic also called the scenario “impossible”. If the FBI obtained access to the website, and thus Ulbricht, through illegal means then the evidence could be thrown out. Unfortunately for his team to make that defense they would have to claim ownership of the site itself. Something they seemed determined to avoid.

The trial is expected to run for another 3-5 weeks before arguments conclude and the jury makes it decision.

TN State Senate Considers Bill to Ban Cops from Using Military Equipment | Ben Swann Truth In Media

By: Barry Donegan Jan 19, 2015

As a nationwide debate rages over police militarization, the Tennessee Senate is considering a bill that would ban police agencies from owning or using military vehicles, weapons, and aircraft while enforcing laws in Tennessee.

Photo credit: Sgt. Mark B. Matthews, 27th Public Affairs Detachment, US Army.

After a 2014 News Channel 5 investigation determined that officials in Tennessee had been abusing the US Department of Defense’s 1033 program, which transfers surplus military equipment to law enforcement agencies, Tennessee’s GOP-controlled Senate is considering a bill that would ban cops in the state from owning or using military equipment. The bill, SB0039, was introduced by Senator Brian Kelsey (R-Germantown) and states that “no law enforcement agency shall own or use a military vehicle, military aircraft, or military weaponry for law enforcement purposes.” The Tenth Amendment Center notes that the proposed law would also require all state and local police agencies to sell or destroy their existing inventories of military weapons and equipment before January 1, 2016.

News Channel 5‘s 2014 report noted that small law enforcement agencies, such as the McMinn County Sheriff’s Department, which received 5 military-grade weapons for each of its 31 officers, were stockpiling far more weapons than could conceivably be useful in violation of Department of Defense policy. Weapons like M-16s and M-14s fell into the wrong hands after they were stolen from police, and the son of a rural police chief was caught impersonating a police officer while carrying an M-16 that he stole from the 1033 program.

Mike Maharrey at the Tenth Amendment Center described some of the equipment that the bill would ban from use by police if it were to pass, “Banned military weapons include machine guns, mortars, rocket-propelled grenades, flamethrowers, grenade launchers, anti-tank weapons, recoilless rifles, and crew-served weapons. The legislation also prohibits ‘military vehicles,’ defined as ‘a tactical armored vehicle obtained pursuant to Section 1033 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1997.’ The bill specifically exempts some weapons, including magazine-fed, gas-operated, air-cooled rifles or carbines designed for semiautomatic or automatic fire and grenade launchers adapted for non-lethal rounds.”

SB0039 was introduced by Senator Kelsey on January 14 and currently awaits a committee assignment.

The Tennessee Senate’s bill comes at a time when politicos across the nation debate the militarization of law enforcement agencies, as many Americans were recently shocked by news footage of heavily-armored police in places like Ferguson, MO and Berkeley, CA engaging in military-style crackdowns on police brutality protesters who were angry over the officer-involved deaths of unarmed suspects Michael Brown and Eric Garner.

Ben Swann recently released a Truth in Media episode looking into the root of police militarization. Watch his expose on the subject in the player, embedded below.

The American people have suffered long enough under a monetary policy controlled by an unaccountable, secretive central bank

by RON PAUL | INFOWARS.COM | JANUARY 19, 2015

Since the creation of the Federal Reserve in 1913, the dollar has lost over 97 percent of its purchasing power, the US economy has been subjected to a series of painful Federal Reserve-created recessions and depressions, and government has grown to dangerous levels thanks to the Fed’s policy of monetizing the debt. Yet the Federal Reserve still operates under a congressionally-created shroud of secrecy.

No wonder almost 75 percent of the American public supports legislation to audit the Federal Reserve.

The new Senate leadership has pledged to finally hold a vote on the audit bill this year, but, despite overwhelming public support, passage of this legislation is by no means assured.

The reason it may be difficult to pass this bill is that the 25 percent of Americans who oppose it represent some of the most powerful interests in American politics. These interests are working behind the scenes to kill the bill or replace it with a meaningless “compromise.” This “compromise” may provide limited transparency, but it would still keep the American people from learning the full truth about the Fed’s conduct of monetary policy.

Some opponents of the bill say an audit would somehow compromise the Fed’s independence. Those who make this claim cannot point to anything in the text of the bill giving Congress any new authority over the Fed’s conduct of monetary policy. More importantly, the idea that the Federal Reserve is somehow independent of political considerations is laughable. Economists often refer to the political business cycle, where the Fed adjusts its policies to help or hurt incumbent politicians. Former Federal Reserve Chairman Arthur Burns exposed the truth behind the propaganda regarding Federal Reserve independence when he said, if the chairman didn’t do what the president wanted, the Federal Reserve “would lose its independence.”

Perhaps the real reason the Fed opposes an audit can be found by looking at what has been revealed about the Fed’s operations in recent years. In 2010, as part of the Dodd-Frank bill, Congress authorized a one-time audit of the Federal Reserve’s activities during the financial crisis of 2008. The audit revealed that between 2007 and 2008 the Federal Reserve loaned over $16 trillion — more than four times the annual budget of the United States — to foreign central banks and politically-influential private companies.

In 2013 former Federal Reserve official Andrew Huszar publicly apologized to the American people for his role in “the greatest backdoor Wall Street bailout of all time” — the Federal Reserve’s quantitative easing program. Can anyone doubt an audit would further confirm how the Fed acts to benefit economic elites?

Despite the improvements shown in the (government-manipulated) economic statistics, the average American has not benefited from the Fed’s quantitative easing program. The abysmal failure of quantitative easing in the US may be one reason Switzerland stopped pegging the value of the Swiss Franc to the Euro following reports that the European Central Bank is about to launch its own quantitative easing program.

Quantitative easing is just the latest chapter in the Federal Reserve’s hundred-year history of failure. Despite this poor track record, Fed apologists still claim the American people benefit from the Federal Reserve System. But, if that were the case, why wouldn’t they welcome the opportunity to let the American people know more about monetary policy? Why is the Fed acting like it has something to hide if it has nothing to fear from an audit?

The American people have suffered long enough under a monetary policy controlled by an unaccountable, secretive central bank. It is time to finally audit — and then end — the Fed.

When the skeletal remains of Hollywood screenwriter Gary Devore were found strapped into his Ford Explorer submerged beneath the California Aqueduct in 1998 it brought an end to one of America's most high profile missing person cases.

The fact that Devore was on his way to deliver a film script that promised to explain the 'real reason' why the US invaded Panama, has long given rise to a slew of conspiracies surrounding the nature of his 'accidental' death.

It didn't help that Devore's hands were missing from the crash scene, along with the script, and that investigators could offer no plausible explanation as to how a car could leave the highway and end up in the position it was found a year after he disappeared.

Now the Daily Mail can exclusively reveal that Devore was working with the CIA in Panama and even a White House source concedes his mysterious death bears all the hallmarks of a cover-up.

The findings, published in a new documentary The Writer With No Hands, are the first testimonies ever aired that give credence to the theories that surrounded the case in the late 90s.

Scroll down for video

Mystery: Gary Devore was a revered writer before he mysteriously disappeared on June 28, 1997, on his way to deliver a controversial script about the US invasion of Panama alleging there was an ulterior motive

Accident? Devore, a former truck driver, was found dead in the California Aqueduct a year later but his Toshiba laptop contained the finished script was missing from his Ford Explorer, as were his hands

Chillingly, the British research team - which was warned to drop the investigation by a Department of Defense contractor - has also secured testimony from the coroner which reveals the human hands said to be recovered from Devore's car were in fact around 200 years old.

'Someone in authority lied. Or made a shocking error,' producer Dr Matthew Alford tells DailyMail.com.

'There could be an innocent explanation for the hands but it is as extraordinary as the conspiracy theory and very suspicious.'

Devore, who wrote Dogs Of War, Raw Deal and Time Cop, had been working on his directorial debut: The Big Steal.

Once a truck driver, he had made a successful career shift into Hollywood. He was a friend to Arnold Schwarzenegger, Tommy Lee Jones's best man, and ex-boyfriend of Janet Jackson.

The Big Steal, he told friends, would be 'the hardest hitting film studios have ever seen', featuring 'disturbing details' about the US invasion of Panama.

The first draft of the script, shown exclusively to the Daily Mail, tells the story of American operatives robbing a Panamanian bank to cover up for 'something much more serious'.

Trailer for new documentary The Writer With No Hands

His widow, Wendy Devore (pictured with Devore) has since discovered he spent time in Panama with the CIA

Hollywood: Devore (left) became a screenwriter, working with actors and friends like Kurt Russell (right)

Revered: He wrote the script for Raw Deal, which starred his close friend Arnold Schwarzenegger in 1986

Discrepancies? These are the bones that were sent to a coroner for Devore's autopsy. The coroner told British producer Dr Matthew Alford he believes the bones to be around 200 years old

Revelations? General Manuel Noriega (pictured being detained by the US Marine Corps) allegedly had a stash of sex tapes featuring senior CIA officials which he recorded during parties thrown at his home in Panama

One line reads: 'With good natured suspicion, Romos speculates on US intent. All this to pick up Noriega?'

Another: 'It sounds like the Pentagon planned the bank robbery and the war is just a diversion.'

Devore's research for the end product included an article from London's now defunct Sunday Correspondent alleging dictator General Manuel Noriega had compiled a stash of sex tapes featuring top-ranking US officials.

Noriega, the article explains, ran a well-known 'honey trap': inviting diplomats to his home filled with alcohol, drugs, beautiful women, and beautiful men - and covertly filming their antics.

After years of research, Dr Alford suggests the film may have implied the invasion was nothing more than a diversion that would allow the US into Panama to steal back incriminating photos of senior US officials that Noriega could have used as blackmail.

According to Devore's widow Wendy, there was a constant stream of phone calls from CIA officials in the month leading up to Devore's death.

She told DailyMail.com: 'When we first married he told me he got a lot of calls from government agencies. He told me to ignore it, so I did. If the phone rang, I could take a message or say he was out, but not to speak to them really.

'We had a few at first, then not very many. Then in the last month one man was calling all the time.

'He was dealing in things that you're not necessarily supposed to deal in.

'I found out a lot of people in Hollywood had these connections with the CIA and knew things that will never be made public.

'After he disappeared, things just didn't add up.

'It's very easy to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but when you're married to someone you know little things about them that seem insignificant but are actually crucial. I know there are things that don't add up.'

The CIA declined to comment.

However, a former White House official from the Regan/George HW Bush era has now confirmed to documentary producer Dr Matthew Alford, that Devore harbored a deep-rooted relationship with the agency and traveled with officials to Central American companies including Panama. Documents also reveal the relationship was investigated by the FBI.

Speaking on camera, he concedes the case has the hallmarks of a cover-up.

Relationships: Devore dated Janet Jackson (left) and was briefly married to actress Claudia Christian (right)

Ex-wife: Nat King Cole's widow Maria Cole married Devore in 1969. They divorced in 1978

Other girlfriends: He also went out with actresses Season Hubley (left) and Patricia Barnes (right)

Devore's widow, who has since looked into the allegations, said she has discovered Gary traveled to Panama with a senior CIA official when he had said he was going to a location with his production team.

Wendy told DailyMail.com: 'I think the information that I have learned since he disappeared has pointed very strongly to the fact that he had another life and it points to the intelligence community certainly.

'I was never told about it beforehand because I think it was another method of keeping me safe and keeping me from asking questions.

'He told me he was going on location 'reckies'. I think sometimes he was but I have since found out he often wasn't with the crews he said he was.

'He went away a lot with members of the CIA special ops. They went to Panama together.'

On the night of his disappearance, Devore, aged 55, had gone to the Santa Fe home of his friend and long-time collaborator, actress Marsha Mason, on June 27, 1997, to finish the final draft of the script, carrying all his research on his Toshiba laptop.

He called Wendy late that night to say he had finished and was driving home with the finished piece.

At 1.15am, he said he was around four hours away and might stop at a motel to polish the script. Wendy told him to come home because he had a party planned for the next day to watch Mike Tyson's notorious fight against Evan Holyfield. That was the last contact anybody had with Devore.

Within a week of his disappearance, men from the FBI, CIA, NSA and DOD arrived at the couple's Santa Barbara home.

He went away a lot with members of the CIA special ops when I thought he was filming. They went to Panama together

Devore's widow, Wendy

After an official went into his office, the computer was wiped of information. Devore's remaining research material disappeared during this period.

A search team spent a year tracking Devore's gas station stops and cell phone signal. They pinpointed his route on the Highway 14 south of the Mojave desert, and all the land around that route.

Finally, an amateur detective Douglas Crawford had a 'hunch' that he could be under the California Aqueduct, as that was the location of another recent death.

Although it had already been searched by helicopters and people on the ground, he was right: Devore was there.

When Devore's car was found, his Toshiba laptop was not in the car, nor was his gun or ammunition which had been under the seat.

Crawford refused DailyMail.com's request for a comment on this investigation.

A police report stated Devore had evidently driven off the aqueduct, which Dr Alford disputes.

'Newspapers speculated that Gary stopped for a break and then got back on the freeway travelling the wrong direction. However, to do this, Gary would have needed to have ignored 'Do Not Enter' signs and driven over two miles the wrong way on the freeway without realizing.

'Despite the crash happening at night and there being no lighting on the freeway, Gary's car headlights were found in the "OFF" position. I consequently tried driving like this and it's horrific and impossible.

'Gary had worked as a professional long haul driver, so friends and family do not believe he would have done anything daft on the road, even if he was tired.'

Wendy, whose request to read the confidential police files was refused, agrees.

'There are things that don't add up,' she said. 'When he called me the last time he sounded strange and agitated.

'When they found him in that aqueduct, which had been searched already by the way, he was wearing a seat belt with his wallet in his back pocket.

Crime scene: Police said Devore accidentally drove on the wrong side of the aqueduct and drove off the side into the water. British producer, Dr Matthew Alford, simulated the route and claims it is near-impossible

Search: Devore's widow says she had hired a team to search the area a year before he was discovered

Pulled out: The case was signed off and the CIA and Santa Barbara police state it was an accidental death

'Ask anyone who knew Gary: he never wore seat belts, and truck drivers never drive with their wallet in their back pocket.'

For 18 years Wendy has been calling to see the confidential reports done on her husband's disappearance, and broadcasting her belief that the CIA had a hand in it.

The agency is openly cooperative with Hollywood: in 1996, the role of Entertainment Liaison Officer was created to provide filmmakers with factual advice and authentic props.

Chase Brandon, a CIA operative who was a special operative in Panama for 25 years (and Tommy Lee Jones's cousin), was appointed.

The agency does not deny that, before Brandon's appointment, filmmakers gathered research on CIA language, style, systems, and even operations on an unofficial basis.

Indeed, Tricia Jenkins, author of The CIA In Hollywood, told DailyMail.com she has recently acquired new evidence showing how the CIA worked off-the-books to influence Hollywood scripts to an extent never previously known.

She said: 'In this documentation, concerning one major Hollywood movie, it is clear that the CIA functioned as the principle partner in shaping the original script and its influence exceeded that which would have been filled by an aggressive producer or studio executive.'

Devore's meetings however were 'beyond anything that could be considered normal for a screenwriter,' Alford says.

One of Hollywood's top private investigators Don Crutchfield, hired by Wendy Devore in 1997, attributes immense importance to the script.

'If I had that script in my hand, I could tell you what happened to Gary Devore,' said Crutchfield, who has worked for Michael Jackson and The Beatles after working as a bodyguard for Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra.

The Writer With No Hands and an accompanying book by Dr Matthew Alford will be released in September 2015.

Driver gets to keep job after shooting alleged robber in the face

by ADAN SALAZAR | INFOWARS.COM | JANUARY 18, 2015

A Papa John’s pizza franchise outside of Atlanta made headlines last week when one of their delivery drivers used a gun to turn the tables on some thieves, but the real story was whether or not the driver would be allowed to keep her job.

Last Saturday, a 27-year-old female driver arrived at a Dekalb County residence when a man approached her and began ordering her out of the vehicle.

“When he got to her he produced a handgun and forced her out of the vehicle and on to the ground,” DeKalb County Police Capt. Stephen Fore described to ABC affiliate WSB-TV.

The driver obeyed, but was soon able to produce her own handgun and fire rounds at the suspect, shooting 24-year-old Donquaz Stephenson in the face.

Stephenson fled the scene and was later found at a nearby home in need of serious medical attention, while another suspect also stole the driver’s car.

“She had no other choice. She must have been in fear for her life and she reacted,” Capt. Fore said in support of the driver’s actions, but it was feared the driver may lose her job due to insubordination.

On Thursday, a spokesperson for the Kentucky-based pizza company announced that, while it contradicts company policy, the driver involved in the altercation would indeed keep her job, a commendable decision, particularly striking in light of the anti-gun culture currently propagated by the establishment.

“The shooting that occurred during a Papa John’s delivery in Atlanta recently is a tragic event,” the Papa John’s spokesperson said. “The safety of Papa John’s employees is a top priority for our company. Company policy prohibits employees from utilizing firearms in the performance of their duties. We plan no changes to our current policy, which is designed to protect customers and employees. Upon investigation and considering the specific facts of the situation, we have reassigned the employee to work in the store and are offering her counseling to help her recuperate from the incident.”

As noted, the decision is indeed worthy of kudos, but Papa John’s “policy prohibiting employees from utilizing firearms in the performance of their duties” may be in need of some revision.

A U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics report recently found the delivery driver profession to be among the most dangerous jobs in America.

On any given day, drivers potentially face anything from robberies after being lured by fake orders, as in the aforementioned narrative, to kidnappings and rape, to murder.

The need to allow drivers to defend themselves becomes clear with each new case, however, corporate pizza chains continue to restrict the right to self-defense for the sake of avoiding financial and legal liability.

The company in this case showed backbone by defending its employee – even if just to avoid negative press – but it remains to be seen if it will live up to its stated priority of employee safety by revising its weapons policy.

NSA DEVELOPS CYBER WEAPONS, ‘ATTACKER MINDSET’ FOR DOMINATION IN DIGITAL WAR – SNOWDEN LEAKS
Mass surveillance by the NSA was apparently just the beginning

Mass surveillance by the NSA was apparently just the beginning. The agency is now preparing for future wars in cyberspace, in which control over the internet and rival networks will be the key to victory, documents leaked by Edward Snowden reveal.

The National Security Agency’s aim is to be able to use the web to paralyze the enemy’s computer networks and all infrastructures they control – including power and water supplies, factories, airports, and banking systems, Der Spiegel magazine wrote after viewing the secret files.

The publication stresses that international conventions regulating the new digital weapons of the 21st century are almost non-existent, and the only law that applies in the field is “the survival of the fittest.”

Mass surveillance by the NSA was only “Phase 0″ in America’s digital war strategy, according to the leaked documents. It was intended to detect vulnerabilities in enemy systems so that “stealthy implants” could infiltrate the systems, allowing “permanent accesses.”

Phase Three, which is labeled “Dominate,” enables the agency to “control/destroy critical systems & networks at will through pre-positioned accesses (laid in Phase 0).” According to the internal documents, the NSA’s ultimate goal is “real time controlled escalation,” Der Spiegel wrote.

Meanwhile, a presentation by the spy agency, seen by German journalists, forecasts that “the next major conflict will start in cyberspace.”

In response, US authorities have been heavily investing into preparations for the upcoming network warfare.

In the 2013 US secret intelligence budget, the NSA projected it would require around $1 billion to strengthen its computer network attack operations.

In recent years, cybersecurity experts have attributed plenty of discovered malware to the NSA and its Five Eyes alliance (US, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand). Such malware was used in multiple attacks – most notably to infiltrate the Iranian nuclear program (Stuxnet) and listen to German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s phone calls.

The documents reveal Quantumdirk, a new NSA program which injects malicious content into chat services provided by sites such as Facebook and Yahoo.

Another type of malware, Straitbizarre, can turn infected computers into disposable and non-attributable “shooter” nodes – controlled by NSA’s Quantum network – which are used for “command and control for very large scale active exploitation and attack.”

According to the files, the digital war will make little differentiation between soldiers and civilians, and any internet user is now at risk of suffering damage to their data – or even their whole computer.

Edward Snowden, 31, is wanted in the US on charges of espionage related to the theft of a large number of NSA documents. Since June 2013, the whistleblower – who has been granted asylum in Russia – has uncovered invasive NSA mass surveillance practices in the US and around the globe, as well as a startling amount of other intelligence secrets.
