Opt-Out of Common Core, Opt-In to The Ron Paul Curriculum

Oklahoma recently took action to protect the state’s children from the federal education bureaucracy by withdrawing from Common Core. Common Core is the latest attempt to bribe states, with money taken from the American people, into adopting a curriculum developed by federal bureaucrats and education “experts.” In exchange for federal funds, states must change their curriculum by, for example, replacing traditional mathematics with “reform math.” Reform math turns real mathematics on its head by focusing on “abstract thinking” instead of traditional concepts like addition and subtraction. Schools must also replace classic works of literature with “informational” texts, such as studies by the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. Those poor kids!
Oklahoma will likely not be the last state to explicitly ban Common Core, as grassroots opposition to this latest federal education “reform” scheme continues to grow. While “reform math” and the use of “informational” texts grab headlines and fuel the outrage behind this movement, they are just symptoms of the problem, not the cause. The devil with Common Core lies not in its details but in its underlying principle. That principle is that that DC-based central planners can develop a curriculum suitable for every student. The idea that government “experts” can centrally plan a nation’s educational system is just as flawed as the idea that government can centrally plan the economy.
One major flaw in a curriculum designed by central planners for use by all students is that it will likely not be academically rigorous enough to meet the needs of college-bound students. Yet at the same time, “one-size-fits-all”curricula like Common Core offer little to meet the needs of students interested in technical or vocational education opportunities.
Growing dissatisfaction with Common Core and other centralized education schemes is leading an increasing number of parents to pursue alternatives such as homeschooling. Throughout my congressional career I was a defender of homeschooling. Now that I am out of Congress, I have expanded my work with homeschoolers through my Ron Paul Curriculum. The curriculum provides students with a rigorous education in history, math, English, foreign languages, and other subjects. While the curriculum is designed to prepare students for college-level work, students not interested in pursuing a traditional four-year college degree will also benefit.
The curriculum features three tracks: natural science/math, social sciences/humanities, and business. Students may also take courses in personal finance and public speaking. The curriculum avoids the ideological biases common in public schools; for example, the government and history sections of the curriculum emphasize Austrian economics, libertarian political theory, and the history of liberty.
Students can use the student discussion forums to interact with, learn from, and teach their peers.
One unique feature of the curriculum is that it gives students the opportunity to start their own Internet-based businesses.
The curriculum is free for students from kindergarten through fifth grade. Families above the fifth grade pay $250 a year, plus $50 per course. However, for the next three months, the Ron Paul Curriculum is offering — for non-members only — an online summer school refresher program for students above the fifth grade. For just $25 students can access the curriculum for three months. This is an excellent opportunity for parents to see if my curriculum meets their child’s needs.

FBI Raids Home of Dangerous Doomsday Prepper: Agents Find Legally Owned Firearms, Barrels of Food

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and other law enforcement agencies blasted alerts all over the country last week advising Americans to be on the lookout for ‘Doomsday Prepper’ Martin Winters, who police say was stockpiling over fifty “high powered” rifles, deadly booby traps and food in preparation for an “end times” event. Neighbors interviewed by mainstream news were terrified about the allegations, leaving some with the impression that Winters was “crazy” because he allegedly claimed that he would kill federal agents if necessary.

While SWAT officials indicated the likelihood that they would have to engage Winters in a firefight was high, friends and family suggested otherwise, saying that Winters may have had views different from most people but insisting that he is a “good guy” who wouldn’t hurt others unless it was necessary to do so in self defense.

Police went so far as to suggest that Winters had essentially gone off the reservation and that he didn’t care whether he lived or died, and that he was “plotting” a confrontation with the federal government.

But the claims and allegations may have been blown way out of proportion. After police obtained a warrant to search Winters’ home based on information obtained from a confidential informant they were probably surprised that not only did Winters have no explosive booby troops set up all over his property as had been claimed, he was also farshort of having possession of the fifty high-powered rifles that police said he had been stockpiling.

Federal agents this week searched the Florida home of a ‘doomsday prepper’ they alleged had stockpiled over 50 high-powered assault rifles and several explosive devices buried around his property as ‘booby traps’.
However the warrant showed up little more than barrels of food.

But in federal court on Wednesday, Winters’ defense attorney, Ellis Faught, said the confidential informant’s estimates were wide of the mark.
The informant had bought four so-called destructive devices from Winters, but they were not buried as booby traps.
Five guns were found locked in a safe, according to 10 News.

‘None of this was there,’ Fraught told the court, the station reported.
‘And it’s my understanding that no guns were dug up.
‘It was alleged by the government that there were 50 to 60 guns and I’m only aware of five of them that were found and they were found in his house in a safe.’

While Martin Winters’ political ideology and interests may differ from those of most Americans, the government had tried him in a public court before any evidence had been presented or found. Some of his neighbors were terrified of this “crazy” individual after they had been told of his alleged crimes, and the mainstream media was happy to oblige the narrative that this right-wing survivalist extremist was a danger to himself and society.

The FBI issued the following photo to its media surrogates during the manhunt in an effort to depict Winters as a survivalist who had gone off the deep end:

His daughters, however, say that Winters is not violent at all and that he is a loving father and grandfather.

“I think they took the whole context of him being prepared and twisted it,” says his daughter Tracy.

Senator Rand Paul warned Americans about this growing trend of demonizing innocent Americans in a speech he delivered to Congress three years ago in opposition to theNational Defense Authorization Act noting that those who don’t subscribe to the status quo could be branded as extremists and terrorists. Paul’s prediction couldn’t have been more accurate, especially considering the manhunt and circumstances surrounding the ordeal with Martin Winters:

There are laws on the books now that characterize who might be a terrorist.
Someone missing fingers on their hands is a suspect according to the Department of Justice. Someone who has guns, someone who has ammunition that is weatherproofed, someone who has more than seven days of food in their house can be considered a potential terrorist.
If you are suspected by these activities do you want the government to have the ability to send you to Guantanamo Bay for indefinite detention?
I suspect, we’re not talking about someone who has been tried or found guilty. We’re talking about someone suspected of activities.

We have, unfortunately, reached a point in America where talking about ideas that don’t go along with mainstream thought has become suspicious activity and those engaging in it are now identified as extremists or persons of interest. With the surveillance state rapidly expanding its capabilities to monitor conversations and interactions with those around us, it has become more important now than ever before to keep our personal activities as private as possible.

OPSEC, a term preppers use to describe operational security, is a key tenet of staying safe in the event of a major disaster. But in this day and age it is a concept that is just as important to implement while everything is seemingly stable, because sharing too much with the wrong people may make you a target, not just to looters and thieves, but overzealous government agents as well.

Today Martin Winters is a domestic terrorist. Tomorrow it might be you.

Infectious Disease Outbreaks Tied to Illegal Immigrant Influx

While our president continues to systematically legalize illegal immigration, the thousands of illegal immigrants spilling across the U.S. border aren’t just overwhelming our border patrol’s resources — they are also bringing with them the added bonus of a whole host ofinfectious diseases, ABC 15 recently reported.

“We are sending people everywhere. The average citizen doesn’t realize what’s going on down here,” Border Patrol Agent Chris Cabrera told ABC 15 News.

“We’re having an outbreak of scabies that’s been going on for a month or so now…We’re starting to see chickenpox, we’re starting to see [MRSA] staff infections, we’re starting to see different viruses…”

“They’re all contagious,” Cabrera continued. “So now we’re transporting people into different parts of the state, different parts of the country and some of these viruses are asymptomatic at this point — they’re not showing the symptoms.”

Well that’s just…lovely.

WND reported last year that our open borders were also bringing in immigrants carrying new, highly infectious, lethal strains of drug-resistant Tuberculosis as well. By the time that story first broke, some 5,000 Los Angeles residents had already been exposed to it. (Oh, and the CDC failed to even notify the public at all until months after the agency began tracking it.)

So how do epidemics get started? From Frontpage Mag:

And this is what happens when a government stops caring about the interests of its people and focuses only on a fanatical ideological agenda and selfish sectarian interests.

Although the Department of Homeland Security refused all three requests to respond to ABC 15′s reporter on this story, the border patrol agent above went on to tell her that the only thing being used to separate the sick from the healthy was a simple strip of yellow police line do not cross “caution” tape.

Well bravo, border patrol. I’m sure it’s a tough job, but come on. Was that last bit of common sense fail in the training manual?

Just because the majority of the American people in many instances have been cowered into fear and submissiveness by something as simple as a little yellow string of plastic with words printed on it doesn’t mean potentially deadly diseases that could harm the whole nation have.

The question now is…how much worse is this situation going to be allowed to get?

Chicago to Implement Street Pole Spy Boxes in the Name of ‘Safety’

Planners from the Urban Center for Computation and Data, part of a joint initiative between the University of Chicago and Argonne National Laboratory, are implementing a project called “Array of things,” in which spy boxes disguised on light poles will collect data.
The project involves installing “curled metal fixtures,” or data-collecting-sensor boxes, throughout Michigan Avenue, a swanky part of Chicago. Funded by Argonne, the installed systems will count pedestrians “by observing cell phone traffic,” presumably via users’ Wi-Fi-network.
Researchers stated the data-collecting-sensors, which are subtly disguised as fancy artwork, will also record air quality, light intensity, sound volume, heat, precipitation and wind, as reported by the Chicago Tribune, in order to make the city “safer.”
Attempting to quell developing concerns from privacy advocates, computer scientist Charlie Catlett affirmed that planners took precaution when designing the sensors, ensuring that the equipment can only “count contact with the signal rather than record the digital address of every device.”

Scientists insist the technology is necessary in order to keep Chicago a “more efficient and cleaner place to live,” and to facilitate and encourage “innovation.”
Despite developer’s affirmations, history shows the public has been blatantly misled on the capabilities and uses of advanced surveillance technology, and always in the name of “safety” and “security.”
“Array of things” is simply another invasive, breach of privacy, funded primarily by American tax dollars for the purpose of normalizing 24-hour government surveillance.

Researchers intend to launch the sculpture-resembling spy boxes throughout eight intersections near Michigan Avenue by mid-July, hoping to install dozens more around the Loop and hundreds more across the city into neighborhoods by the end of the year.
In order to reach optimal concealment, the spy boxes were designed by the School of the Art Institute, secured by more than $1 million in donations from Cisco Systems, Intel, Zebra Technologies, Qualcomm, Motorola Solutions and Schneider Electric.
“Planners envision a permanent system of data collection boxes that can be used by a range of researchers from the public, private and academic sectors who want to test ideas but wouldn’t have the resources to build the testing infrastructure,” reported The Chicago Tribune.
Developers say the sensor-collecting boxes, which will connect to the Internet, can be easily updated and will be capable of adapting to “the latest and greatest technology.”
Responding to privacy concerns, Catlett assured that the boxes “…don’t collect things that can identify people. There are no cameras or recording devices.”
He added that sensors will collect “sound levels but not recording actual sound. The only imaging will be infrared.”
Fred Cate, an expert on privacy matters related to technology, weighed in adding, “Almost any data that starts with an individual is going to be identifiable.”
In regards to tracking mobile phone data, “you actually collect the traffic. You may not care about the fact that it’s personally identifiable. It’s still going to be personally identifiable.”
Besides citizens being spied on by fancy artistry, some are concerned about the repercussions of Corporate America gaining access to the data. Currently, the dragnet of data swept up by the NSA is used to target consumers, using in many cases, information provided involuntarily.
“If you spend a million dollars wiring these boxes, and a company comes in and says we’ll pay you a million dollars to collect personally identifiable information. What’s the oversight over those companies?” asked Cate.
Officials say not to worry because all of the collected data will be “immediately published,” exposing the project to scrutiny.
The claim is laughable. Proven by whistleblower Edward Snowden, the U.S. government has gone out of its way to conceal surveillance programs from the public, offering zero transparency. Government agencies, including the NSA, have proven to be incompetent when it comes to managing the massive amount of data it has mined; making it very unlikely that officials will actually follow up on their promise to publish everything they record.
Marketing the program as beneficial to the public is downright fraudulent, when in all actuality, installing data-collecting-sensor boxes throughout cities and neighborhoods is continuous surveillance in disguise.

Did Israel Just Start World War III?

Doug Hagmann and I have been very consistent in stating that World War III would begin in Syria. Further, my military sources have been telling me for 15 months that war in the Middle East, and possibly World War III, will commence in Syria for a variety of reasons.The world is beginning to witness the unfolding of this prediction. Historians may look back upon Israel’s recent attack upon nine military targets inside of Syria as a the Archduke moment for World War III.

A Convenient Provocation

A total of nine Syrian military targets have been hit by Israeli jets and guided missiles, according to IDF officials. The IDF claims they were a part of a clear message being delivered to the Syrians in response to a series of cross-border shootings to protect the citizens of Israel. As many as 10 Syrian soldiers have been killed, but that is not the real story. The attacks, on the surface appear to be a retaliation to the threats posed by Syria against Israeli citizens, most notably, the killing of Israeli teen, Mohammed Karaka.

On the surface, the attacks appear to be measured and completely justified. However, when one examines the nature of the attacks, a very ominous picture begins to emerge. The bulk of the attacks were directed against targets on the Golan Heights. This is highly significant because any conventional military force incursion into Syria would have to be precipitated by eliminating the threat to Israel posed by forces on the Golan Heights.

As tragic as the killing of the Israeli teen, Mohammed Karaka is, his death is being exploited by Israel because the boy was an Arab who was also an Israeli citizen. To somedegree, this gives Israel the moral high ground because Israel’s military actions are not just based upon retaliation for the killing of an Israeli teen, he is also an Arab. What a perfect poster child, pun intended, to justify Israel’s actions against Syria.

Israel is exploiting the situation for military gain and I am speaking directly about some of the military targets which were attacked by Israel that have nothing to do with retaliating against Syria for the death of the boy. Many of the targets included anti-aircraft militaryinstallations. And what would be the one target that Israel would have to take out prior to having its tanks cross the board and attack Damascus? Any prelude to invasion, whether it be by the U.S., NATO, Israel or ISIS, would consist of taking out the anti-aircraft capabilities of Syrian military bases.

In order to launch a successful invasion, either by proxy forces or through direct intervention, Israel would need to have an immediate and complete control of the skies. The “retaliation” for the death of the Israeli teen allowed Israel the pretext and ability to test the capabilities of the anti-aircraft facilities by striking at them under the guise of retaliating for the killing of a teen.

Why Syria?

It is no secret that Russia cannot match America/NATO airpower. Therefore, the Russians have built the best anti-aircraft facilities in the world and the Russian capabilities in this area are second to none. Since Russia is considered to be the architect of the Syrianmilitary, it would make sense that Syria could be expected to have some of the same capabilities that Russia enjoys with regard to this type of defense. Therefore, it makes even more sense that Israel needs to test the Syrian defenses prior to attacking. Hence, the you have the real reason for yesterday’s attacks.

Israel wants to escalate the situation. They want the world to believe that it can expect Syria to have a provoking counter response. However, Assad is not ignorant enough to play into Israel’s hand and retaliate. Therefore, a reason must be invented and yes, I am speaking about a major false flag event which will be promoted by and carried out by the CIA and possibly the Mossad.

The ISIS Factor

ISIS will no doubt cross into Syria and its actions will lead to widespread destabilization of the Syrian government. The world would soon see a horrific carnage as ISIS’ actions in Iraq are merely the preliminary event.

Syria must be taken and fortified by the West. Holding Syria is the key to warding off a Russian invasion should the IDF and NATO invade Iran to stop its practice of selling its oil for gold to the BRICS.

If Syria is occupied, the United States will be able to employ airpower and utilize its small and medium missile batteries. These weapons would be able to repel a Russian counter-attack in Syria. With Russia being stopped at the gate, the door is open to invade Iran. Yet, another false flag will have to be unleashed to give the U.S. the justification to invade Iran.

In retaliation, Ukraine may be overrun by Russia, however, this might be an acceptable loss as the real threat to American hegemony and Western central banking dominance is more threatened by Iran’s rogue move of forsaking the dollar. The Petrodollar is gasping for breath and the U.S. must act now.

While appearing as a guest on my show on June 15, 2014, Doug Hagmann predicted thatISIS will not only consume Iraq but will blow by the border and go into Syria as well. Israeli air support would be needed to use these CIA funded proxy troops to stir up civil unrest, otherwise ISIS would be crushed by the Syrian military. This action against Syria will require either the Americans or the IDF to take out the Syrian command and control structures, such as its air defenses, thus leaving Damascus basically undefended. The CIA has attempted to destabilize Assad for three years by starting and supporting a bloody civil war. However, these actions have not resulted in the desired regime change. Therefore, intervention in Syria is being taken to a whole new level.

Conclusion

Israel’s controversial military actions were not motivated by the death of one teenager. The teen is the convenient excuse. Now that the IDF has its answers as to Syrian militaryair defenses, the path is paved for an invasion of Syria and the fall of Assad has begun. With regime change in sight, an occupied Syria will result as a new puppet Syrian regime will do exactly what they are told to do. The only remaining question is who will use nuclear weapons first. This will be the topic of a future article.

Israeli officials were quick to blame Syria’s military for an attack in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, when an attack on a car killed a 15-year-old Israeli. The Israeli Air Force is now launching multiple air strikes across Syria.

Israeli military officials insisted the Golan attack was an “intentional” attack, and that they believe Syria’s military fired an antitank missile at the teenager’s car for no apparent reason.

The region along the Israeli frontier is virtually constantly contested between Syria’s military and various rebel factions, many of whom have been receiving US antitank missiles recently in an attempt to turn the tide of the ongoing Syrian Civil War.

Israel’s air strikes don’t appear to be border-specific, but are hitting military targets across the region, including the nation’s military headquarters. Though the casualties are not yet clear, strikes that significantly degrade the Syrian military could inadvertently aid not only the US-backed rebels but also ISIS, the largest rebel faction, which has taken over much of the country’s east.

Egypt court sentences Al Jazeera journalists

Network says jail terms for Peter Greste, Mohamed Fahmy and Baher Mohamed defy "logic, sense, and semblance of justice".

Two Al Jazeera English journalists have been sentenced to seven years in jail and one to 10 years by an Egyptian court on charges including aiding the Muslim Brotherhood and reporting false news.

The guilty verdicts were announced by a judge on Monday against Peter Greste, Mohamed Fahmy, and Baher Mohamed.

Greste and Fahmy were sentenced to seven years in prison, while Baher Mohamed was sentenced to an additional three years for possession of ammunition. Mohamed was in possession of a spent bullet casing he had found on the ground during a protest.

Other Al Jazeera journalists who were tried in absentia, including Sue Turton and Dominic Kane, were sentenced to 10 years.

Al Jazeera has strenuously rejected the charges against its journalists and maintains their innocence.

Greste, Fahmy, and Mohamed were arrested in December in Cairo as they covered the aftermath of the army's removal of Mohamed Morsi from the presidency in July.

The prosecution said Greste, Al Jazeera's East Africa correspondent, and his Egypt bureau colleagues aided the Brotherhood and produced false news reports of the situation in Egypt.

The Brotherhood, which supported Morsi, was listed as a "terrorist" organisation by the interim Egyptian government shortly before the accused were arrested.

The prosecution produced a number of items as evidence including a BBC podcast, a news report made while none of the accused were in Egypt, a pop video by the Australian singer Gotye, and several recordings on non-Egyptian issues.

The defence maintained that the journalists were wrongly arrested and that the prosecution had failed to prove any of the charges against them.

'Absurd allegations'

Al Anstey, Al Jazeera English managing director, said the verdicts defied "logic, sense, and any semblance of justice".

"Today three colleagues and friends were sentenced, and will continue to be kept behind bars for doing a brilliant job of being great journalists. 'Guilty' of covering stories with great skill and integrity. 'Guilty' of defending people’s right to know what is going on in their world," Anstey said in a statement.

"Peter, Mohamed, and Baher and six of our other colleagues were sentenced despite the fact that not a shred of evidence was found to support the extraordinary and false charges against them. At no point during the long drawn out 'trial' did the absurd allegations stand up to scrutiny.

"There is only one sensible outcome now - for the verdict to be overturned, and justice to be recognised by Egypt."

Final cargo of chemical arms leaves Syria

The last of Syria's declared chemical weapons have been shipped from the country and are en route for destruction at sea, according to the world's chemical-weapons watchdog.

A Danish ship is now to take the chemicals for transhipment in Italy's port of Gioia Tauro to the US ship Cape Ray for destruction at sea, while some chemicals are to be destroyed at sites including in the US and Britain.

"As we speak, the ship [carrying the last chemicals] has just left the port," Ahmet Uzumcu, head of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), said in The Hague on Monday.

"Removing the stockpile of precursor and other chemicals has been a fundamental condition in the programme to eliminate Syria's chemical weapons programme.

"While a major chapter in our endeavours closes today, OPCW's work in Syria will continue."

The Syrian Foreign Ministry confirmed on Monday that "the final cargo of chemical agents has today been taken outside Syrian territory".

Syria had previously shipped out 92 percent of its stockpile of chemical weapons under the terms of a UN-backed and US-Russia-brokered agreement last year.

But the remaining eight percent of the stockpile remained at one site and Syria said it was unable to transport it to the port of Latakia because of security concerns.

In his remarks on Monday, Uzumcu described the disarmament mission as "a major undertaking marked by an extraordinary international cooperation.

"Never before has an entire arsenal of a category of weapons of mass destruction been removed from a country experiencing a state of internal armed conflict".

Sigrid Kaag, the Dutch head of the joint OPCW-UN mission, also lauded the end of what she called "the most operationally challenging task within the effort to eliminate the Syrian chemical weapons programme".

Referring to an investigation into alleged use of chlorine in Syria's conflict, Uzumcu said it will resume but "may take a little more time".

Last week, an OPCW investigation team said chlorine, which Syria was not obliged to hand over, has recently been used in Syria "in a systematic manner".

Assad's government and rebels have both accused the other of using chemical agents in the bloody uprising that began in March 2011.

Syria did not have to declare its stockpile of chlorine - a weak toxic agent that can be considered a chemical weapon if used offensively - as part of the disarmament deal as it is widely used for commercial and domestic purposes.

Under last year's agreement Syria had until the end of June for the destruction of its chemical weapons, but it has been widely acknowledged that the deadline would not be met.

The deal was reached after a sarin nerve gas attack in a rebel-held Damascus suburb killed around 1,400 people.

Syria agreed to hand over its chemical arsenal after the US threatened air strikes.

Representative Trey Gowdy is heading up the Benghazi Select Committee investigation, and he has former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton squarely in his sights, vowing to subpoena her and compel testimony under oath about her role in the lead up and aftermath of the Benghazi terrorist attack.

This has Hillary and her supporters scared of Trey Gowdy and what he might discover. Supporters of Hillary and the Leftist agenda have begun actively working to subvert and sabotage Gowdy’s investigation by attacking him and trying to disparage his credibility.

But the American people massively support Gowdy’s investigation and want him to uncover the truth. Furthermore, there is also an effort underway to name Trey Gowdy as the next Speaker of the House, replacing John Boehner.

There is currently a petition circulating from the Stop Hillary PAC that is garnering support for Trey Gowdy, so he can withstand the attacks launched by Hillary’s supporters against him.

Hillary Clinton is attacking Trey Gowdy over Benghazi and he needs your support. Clinton and those surrounding her are only concerned with protecting Hillary Clinton’s chances of becoming President. There is another petition of sorts, more of a poll, from Freedomworks that is seeking support for making Trey Gowdy the next Speaker of the House.

John Boehner has failed to fight for conservative values as the House Speaker. He needs to be replaced.

There are even rumors he may retire. That’s great news!

America needs a real conservative as Speaker. We need someone who will repeal Obamacare, cut spending, and cut taxes. We can’t afford more weak-kneed leadership in Congress.

There are several reasons why Trey Gowdy should be the next Speaker of the House, and reading some of his quotes or listening to some of his speeches will tell you exactly why.

The truth about Benghazi has to be revealed, regardless of who may be hurt in the process, and John Boehner needs to be replaced as Speaker. It is neat and convenient that Trey Gowdy appears to be the one man uniquely suited to accomplishing both of those tasks.
