Donald Trump Declares Victory Over Hillary Clinton On Sexist Front

Last week, or a thousand years ago in campaign time, Donald Trump made a thing out of Hillary Clinton using the bathroom at the Democratic debate, and, separately, said she had gotten "schlonged" by Obama in the 2008 elections. As The New York Times described it, Clinton's aides "could barely believe their good fortune. Mr. Trump had just given them new fodder to galvanize women behind her candidacy—and they used it." The Clinton campaign said it wouldn't respond to Trump but that others should, trying to launch an #ImWithHer hashtag, about the same time #NotMyAbuela came up after the Clinton campaign's attempts to paint her as just like yours backfired.

Donald Trump, as he tends to do, declared that he'd hit back by bringing up the history of sexual misconduct allegations surrounding Bill Clinton. At a campaign appearance in South Carolina yesterday, he called Clinton "one of the great abusers of the world," driving chatter about Clinton on cable news.

Today, after Hillary Clinton didn't mention Trump at her own campaign appearance, Trump took credit. From a transcript of the comments at RealClearPolitics:

Although, I think last night I gave her a big headache. I can imagine those discussions. But you have to hit back hard and you can't let them push you around. Today she gave a speech and she never even mentioned my name—I  wonder why.

I was mentioned nine times in the [most recent DNC] debate. Everything, all of them, her. None of the other candidates were mentioned. And then she came out with the sexism, which is nonsense, but she is playing that card.  And then I had to hit her back and I talked about her husband and the abuse of women. It's horrific abuse. And I talked about that. And now today on the television they're going crazy.

She gets up, makes a speech, doesn't even mention me or sexism. I wonder why. I wonder why!

Later he asked the crowd if they remembered "all those people who are gone" that he had focused on. "I don't want to name names, but they are all the people who attacked me," Trump said. "Wouldn't it be nice if our country could have that same thing? You attack, boom, you're gone." At another point in the speech he said he used the word "stupid" because "there's no better word," and as a highly educated Ivy league graduate he has "the best words."

GROCERY STORE DEFIES ANTI-GUN MOVEMENT, WELCOMES OPEN-CARRY SHOPPERS

Grocer placing trust in armed customers to "be responsible in our stores"

While other major grocery chains in Texas are opposing the open carry law set to go into effect on January 1, Ohio-based Kroger has no intention to bar its customers from bringing guns into their stores.

Grocers like H-E-B, Whole Foods, Sprouts and Randall’s now display appropriate signage informing customers that they “may not enter this property with a handgun that is carried openly.”

Kroger, which has several stores in Dallas and Houston, however will not impose additional rules on gun owners.

Back in March, Kroger CFO Michael Schlotman revealed the store planned to abide by “local laws” whatever they may be.

“If the local gun laws are to allow open carry, we’ll certainly allow customers to do that based on what the local laws are,” Schlotman said appearing on CNBC’s Squawk Box. “We don’t believe it’s up to us to legislate what the local gun control laws should be. It’s up to the local legislators to decide to do that.”

“So we follow local laws [and] we ask our customers to be respectful to the other people they are shopping with. And we really haven’t had any issues inside of our stores as a result of that.”

Kroger’s refusal to bend to anti-gun fervor has made them the target of gun control groups such as the Michael Bloomberg-affiliated Moms Demand Action, which has targeted Kroger specifically for over a year and spent hundreds of thousands on failed campaigns like #groceriesnotguns.

Rather than capitulating to the pressure, the 2,400-plus store grocery chain has instead stated their commitment to trust their customers will do the right thing.

“The safety of our customers and associates is one of our most important company values. Millions of customers are present in our busy grocery stores every day and we don’t want to put our associates in a position of having to confront a customer who is legally carrying a gun. That is why our long-standing policy on this issue is to follow state and local laws and to ask customers to be respectful of others while shopping. We know that our customers are passionate on both sides of this issue and we trust them to be responsible in our stores.”

Meanwhile, others are pointing out the hypocrisy of stores in Texas that allow concealed carry while denying open carry.

“In the state of Texas, open carry is only be legal if the carrier also carries a concealed carry license,” writes Nick Leghorn for TheTruthAboutGuns.com. “Realistically, by adopting a policy of permitting concealed carry and banning open carry, H-E-B is simply saying is ‘when you come in here, just throw your shirt over your gun please.'”

FOIA Documents Reveal Obama Took an $8 Million Vacation The Daily

Back when Obama was first trying to get elected in 2008, he had this to say about taking vacations:

“You have to understand that if you seek that office, you have to be prepared to give your life to it. Essentially the burden that any president, I think, strikes, with the American people is, um, you give me this office and in turn my, fears, doubts, insecurities, foibles, need for sleep, family life, vacations, leisure is gone. I am giving myself to you.”

Between all of his golf games and vacations, the President has since gained a reputation for being one of the most laid back presidents we’ve ever had. In fact, his vacations may have created the biggest taxpayer tab in presidential history. A FOIA request by judicial watch has revealed that his December 2014 Hawaiian vacation cost over $8 million for the 17 day vacation. The vast majority of the cost was flight related, but also included $91,000 in car rental expenses and $224,000 for hotel stays.

Even after taking into account the staff members and secret service agents that must have come along, those numbers still sound mind-boggling. All told, the costs for all the vacations he has taken during his presidency, amount to over $70 million (that we know of).

January 1, 2016: The New Bank Bail-In System Goes Into Effect In Europe

If you have a bank account anywhere in Europe, you need to read this article.  On January 1st, 2016, a new bail-in system will go into effect for all European banks.  This new system is based on the Cyprus bank bail-ins that we witnessed a few years ago.  If you will remember, money was grabbed from anyone that had more than 100,000 euros in their bank accounts in order to bail out the banks.  Now the exact same principles that were used in Cyprus are going to apply to all of Europe.  And with the entire global financial system teetering on the brink of chaos, that is not good news for those that have large amounts of money stashed in shaky European banks.

Below, I have shared part of an announcement about this new bail-in system that comes directly from the official website of the European Parliament.  I want you to notice that they explicitly say that “unsecured depositors would be affected last”.  What they really mean is that any time a bank in Europe fails, they are going to come after private bank accounts once the shareholders and bond holders have been wiped out.  So if you have more than 100,000 euros in a European bank right now, you are potentially on the hook when that bank goes under…

The directive establishes a bail-in system which will ensure that taxpayers will be last in the line to the pay the bills of a struggling bank. In a bail-in, creditors, according to a pre-defined hierarchy, forfeit some or all of their holdings to keep the bank alive. The bail-in system will apply from 1 January 2016.

The bail-in tool set out in the directive would require shareholders and bond holders to take the first big hits.Unsecured depositors (over €100,000) would be affected last, in many cases even after the bank-financed resolution fund and the national deposit guarantee fund in the country where it is located have stepped in to help stabilise the bank. Smaller depositors would in any case be explicitly excluded from any bail-in.

And as we have seen in the past, these rules can change overnight in the midst of a major crisis.

So they may be promising that those with under 100,000 euros will be safe right now, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that it will be true.

It is also important to note that there has been a really big hurry to get all of this in place by January 1.  In fact, at the end of October the European Commission actually sued six nations that had not yet passed legislation adopting the new bail-in rules…

The European Commission is taking legal action against member states including the Netherlands and Luxembourg, after they failed to implement rules protecting European taxpayers from funding billions in bank rescues.

Six countries will be referred to the European Court of Justice (ECJ) for their continued failure to transpose the EU’s “bail-in” laws into national legislation, the European Commission said on Thursday.

So why was the European Commission in such a rush?

Is there some particular reason why January 1 is so important?

This is something that I will be watching.

Meanwhile, there have been major changes in the U.S. as well.  The Federal Reserve recently adopted a new rule that limits what it can do to bail out the “too big to fail” banks.  The following comes from CNN…

The Federal Reserve is cutting its lifeline to big banks in financial trouble.

The Fed officially adopted a new rule Monday that limits its ability to lend emergency money to banks.

In theory, the new rule should quash the notion that Wall Street banks are “too big to fail.”

If this new rule had been in effect during the last financial crisis, the Federal Reserve would not have been able to bail out AIG or Bear Stearns.  As a result, the final outcome of the last crisis may have been far different.  Here is more fromCNN…

Under the new rule, banks that are going bankrupt — or appear to be going bankrupt — can no longer receive emergency funds from the Fed under any circumstances.

If the rule had been in place during the financial crisis, it would have prevented the Fed from lending to insurance giant AIG (AIG) and Bear Stearns, Fed chair Janet Yellen points out.

So if the Federal Reserve does not bail out these big financial institutions during the next crisis, what is going to happen?

Will we see European-style “bail-ins” when large banks start failing?

And exactly what would such a “bail-in” look like?

Earlier this year, I discussed the concept of a “bail-in”…

Essentially, what happens is that wealth is transferred from the “stakeholders” in the bank to the bank itself in order to keep it solvent.  That means that creditors and shareholders could potentially lose everything if a major bank in Europe fails.  And if their “contributions” are not enough to save the bank, those holding private bank accounts will have to take “haircuts” just like we saw in Cyprus.  In fact, the travesty that we witnessed in Cyprus is being used as a “template” for much of the new legislation that is being enacted all over Europe.

Many Americans assume that when they put money in the bank that they have a right to go back and get “their money” whenever they want.  But if we all went to the bank at the same time, there wouldn’t be nearly enough money for all of us.  The reason for this is that the banks only keep a small fraction of our money on hand to satisfy the demands of those that conduct withdrawals on a day to day basis.  The banks take the rest of the money that we have deposited and use it however they think is best.

If you have money at a bank that goes under, that bank will still be obligated to pay you back, but it may not be able to do so.  This is where the FDIC comes in.  The FDIC supposedly guarantees the safety of deposits in member banks, but at any given time it only has a very, very small amount of money on hand.

If some major crisis comes along that causes banks all over the United States to start falling like dominoes, the FDIC will be in panic mode.  During such a scenario, the FDIC would be forced to ask Congress for a massive amount of money, and since we already run a giant deficit every year the government would have to borrow whatever funds would be required.

Personally, I find it very interesting that we have seen major rule changes in Europe and at the Federal Reserve just as we are entering a new global financial crisis.

Do they know something that the rest of us do not?

Be very careful with your money, because I am convinced that “bank bail-ins” will soon be making front page headlines all over the world.

Sharia in Las Vegas: Police HUNT Man Who Placed BACON On Mosque’s Door Handles

Las Vegas, America’s den of iniquity, gambling, prostitution — you name the vice, you can buy twice. So I am bemused, though not amused, that bacon left on the door handle of a mosque has the Las Vegas Police department on a jihad to find the perps. The bacon is being investigated as a “hate crime.” Seriously. Bacon on a door handle is a crime now? Maybe in Muslim countries, but when did America decide that we would be a sharia nation as well?

Sharia in Vegas. That’s what this is. In the UK, an 18-year-old girl was jailed for this very thing. This is America, not Yemen or the UK, but not for long. And while what these pranksters did was silly, jail time? For a bad joke? Defacto Islamic law (sharia) in Las Vegas, of all places.

This isn’t a hate crime. This is Islamic law. Look at FBI  “hate crime” statistics. Attacks on synagogues are at record levels. Unprecedented. Mosques stats — not even close. No one gives a fig about the synagogues. That tells you all you need to know.

Islamization of America is out of control.

“Las Vegas Police Hunt Man Who Placed Raw Bacon On Mosque’s Door Handles”, TSG, December 29, 2015

Police are seeking to identify a man who placed raw bacon on the door handles of a Las Vegas mosque, an apparent hate crime that was recorded by surveillance cameras.

According to cops, the defacement of the Masjid Tawheed mosque occurred around 3:15 AM Sunday. Video captured a man first placing bacon on the handle of the mosque’s rear door. The vandal then walked to the mosque’s main entrance and stringed several pieces of bacon across the front door handles (as seen in the adjacent photo).

The bacon was discovered hours later by worshipers arriving at the mosque for early morning prayers. Muslims are prohibited from touching or consuming bacon and other pork products.

Based on surveillance video, the suspect, who wore a baseball cap and glasses, appears to be a white male with a mustache, goatee, and long sideburns. It is unclear how he arrived at the mosque in Spring Valley, a town two miles from the Las Vegas Strip.

In April, an Oklahoma mosque reported to cops that “someone put uncooked bacon on the door handles of the men’s and women’s mosques” on a Sunday morning. No arrests have been made in connection with the incident at the Islamic Society of Edmond.

Turkish President Declared Caliph Of The Muslim World

Sources confirm Turkey's slave trade

WASHINGTON – Kurdish sources have confirmed that Turkey is condoning the Islamic State’s slave-trade sale of Yazidi children and young women inside its borders, according to a new report in Joseph Farah’s G2 Bulletin.

The Kurdish source, who requested anonymity to be able to speak openly, said the slave trade is but one of a number of ways in which ISIS raises large sums of money to finance its terrorism in Syria and Iraq.

This slave trade activity is taking place through a liaison office in Turkey near the border with Syria.

The Kurdish source’s assertion reinforced a report from the German television station ARD, which produced footage of the slave trade out of an office is in the Turkish province of Gaziantep. Although the footage is in German, it shows ISIS operatives in Turkey taking payment to buy the women and children.

The Daily Caller and Breitbart both have reported on the ARD video, which also prompted the head of a Turkish legal association in the southern city of Gaziantep to file a complaint against the Turkish police and its national intelligence agency.

“We decided to file a complaint after the allegations were made on German ARD TV,” said Bertas Sarkli, head of the Gaziantep Bar Association. “They alleged that the Yazidi people were traded by ISIS in a slave market here in Gaziantep. The prosecution must investigate this.”

Turkey’s involvement in the Yazidi sex trade with ISIS also was underscored recently by Uzay Bulut writing for the Gladstone Institute.

She quoted Sarkli as saying that Gaziantep is a center of ISIS activity between Turkey and Syria.

Whether it’s arms, fighters or the slave trade, the Kurdish official told G2 Bulletin that Turkish intelligence is deeply involved in such trade which, he asserts, is condoned by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The woman and children involved in the sex trade inside Turkey go for tens of thousands of dollars a person. ISIS uses Yazidi women and children captured after taking over Sinjar in Iraq in August 2014. While some 400,000 Yazidis lived in Sinjar at one time, the United Nations reports that following the takeover ISIS executed 5,000 men and made sex slaves of some 7,000 women and girls.

“Some of those women and girls have had to watch 7, 8 and 9-year old children bleed to death before their eyes, after being raped by ISIS militia multiple times a day,” according to Mirza Ismail, chairman of the Yazidi Human Rights Organization International.

“I met mothers, whose children were torn from them by ISIS,” Ismail recently testified before the U.S. Congress. “These same mothers came to plead for the return of their children, only to be informed that they, the mothers, had been fed the flesh of their own children by ISIS. Children murdered, then fed to their own mothers.”

The involvement of Turkey, a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, comes despite having signed several international treaties to prevent such actions but “it is the number one country when it comes to professional non-compliance with human rights treaties,” said civil rights lawyer Reyhan Yalcindag.

Omnibus Bill Includes $1.6 Billion to Resettle Illegal Immigrants

WASHINGTON – Passage of the omnibus budget bill by the House of Representatives includes a provision providing $1.6 billion for resettlement of illegal immigrants crossing through the U.S. border through the year 2018.

“Out of an abundance of caution, the Office of Refugee Resettlement at the Department of Health and Human Services has begun a process to expand its temporary capacity to house unaccompanied children,” the Department of Health and Human Services said in a statement earlier this month.

Government statistics from October and November of 2015 show a two fold increase of the number of unaccompanied immigrant children, 10,500, crossing the southern border from Mexico over the previous years totals for the same period according to the Washington Post.

To cope with this influx, HHS plans to open a pair of shelters totaling 1,000 beds in South Texas with an additional facility of 400 beds in Southern California.

The total sum of the provisions approved by Congress- $1,645,201,000- will be utilized to assist in this process, along with the funding of “refugee and entrant assistance activities authorized by section 414 of the Immigration and Nationality Act and section 501 of the Refugee Education Assistance Act of 1980, and for carrying out section 462 of the Homeland Security Act of 2002, section 235 of the William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008, the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000 (‘‘TVPA’’), section 203 of the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2005, and the Torture Victims Relief Act of 1998.”

The Department of Health and Human has enlisted the Department of Defense to make an additional 5,000 beds available as needed.

The DoD also noted in a statement on the matter that “The entire administration has been closely monitoring these current trends and coordinating across the whole of government to ensure an effective response to any changes in migration flows.”

Planned Parenthood Killed 323,999 Babies in Abortions in 2014, Provided Less Health Care

The Planned Parenthood Federation of America abortion business released its annual report today covering its activities for 2014 and the abortion company indicated it killed 323,999 babies in abortions. Meanwhile, while the abortion corporation bills itself as a health care provider it provided health care to fewer patients in 2014 than the year before.

All of this comes at a time when Planned Parenthood is under heavy criticism for selling the body parts of aborted babies — and it has been exposed in 11 undercover videos doing so.

The newest annual report shows the number of abortions done at Planned Parenthood centers fell from 327,653 to 323,999, but a representative of a national pro-life group says the numbers still make Planned Parenthood the largest abortion business in the nation, by far.

“Although this may seem to be a small drop, it continues a trend of Planned Parenthood’s decreasing abortion business,” said Jim Sedlak, vice president of American Life League. “This year’s number is the lowest number of annual abortions at Planned Parenthood since 2007.”

The decrease in the number of abortions isn’t due to a lowered commitment to make a profit from ending the lives of unborn children in abortions. It appears to be a part of a bigger problem: Planned Parenthood is having an increasingly difficult time getting customers of any kind through its doors.

The 2,500,000 patients Planned Parenthood saw in 2014 is the lowest annual number reported by Planned Parenthood since 1998. A quick look at the numbers contained in its report shows that the number of “services” PP provided to its customers fell from 10,590,333 in 2013 to 9,455,582 in 2014. This represents an 11 percent drop in services provided by Planned Parenthood.

Sedlak told LifeNews that, while Planned Parenthood was seeing fewer patients and delivering fewer services, government grants and reimbursements to the organization rose from $528.4 million to $553.7 million—a 4.8 percent increase.

“It is absolutely incredible that Planned Parenthood continues to get more and more taxpayer dollars while its customer base and services provided plummets,” he said. “An 11 percent decrease in services and a record low number of clients are very significant, yet Congress recently passed a budget for 2016 keeping Planned Parenthood fully funded. It is time this stopped.”

The Planned Parenthood report shows that, at the same time the government was increasing funding by $25.3 million, private contributions to the organization decreased by $38.3 million.

“Apparently,” said Sedlak, “private individuals are more aware of the horrors perpetrated by Planned Parenthood and are taking action to reduce their gifts to the organization.”

“What this Planned Parenthood Annual Report shows,” Sedlak concluded, “is that, despite the inaction on taxpayer funding at the federal level, the foes of Planned Parenthood are having a significant effect on PP by closing down clinics all across the country.”

The total number abortion clinics in America continues to decline, following a nationwide trend extending back to 1991. In 2015, abortion clinics closed at a rate of more than one per week with 53 abortion clinics shutting down or halting all abortion services.

• In the second video: Planned Parenthood’s Dr. Mary Gatter joked, “I want a Lamborghini” as she negotiated the best price for baby parts.
• In the third video: Holly O’Donnell, a former Stem Express employee who worked inside a Planned Parenthood clinic, detailed first-hand the unspeakable atrocities and how she fainted in horror over handling baby legs.
• In the fourth video: Planned Parenthood’s Dr. Savita Ginde stated, “We don’t want to do just a flat-fee (per baby) of like, $200. A per-item thing works a little better, just because we can see how much we can get out of it.” She also laughed while looking at a plate of fetal kidneys that were “good to go.”
• In the fifth video: Melissa Farrell of Planned Parenthood-Gulf Coast in Houston boasted of Planned Parenthood’s skill in obtaining “intact fetal cadavers” and how her “research” department “contributes so much to the bottom line of our organization here, you know we’re one of the largest affiliates, our Research Department is the largest in the United States.”
• In the sixth video: Holly O’Donnell described technicians taking fetal parts without patient consent: “There were times when they would just take what they wanted. And these mothers don’t know. And there’s no way they would know.”
• In the seventh and perhaps most disturbing video: Holly O’Donnell described the harvesting, or “procurement,” of organs from a nearly intact late-term fetus aborted at Planned Parenthood Mar Monte’s Alameda clinic in San Jose, CA. “‘You want to see something kind of cool,’” O’Donnell says her supervisor asked her. “And she just taps the heart, and it starts beating. And I’m sitting here and I’m looking at this fetus, and its heart is beating, and I don’t know what to think.”
• In the eighth video: StemExpress CEO Cate Dyer admits Planned Parenthood sells “a lot of” fully intact aborted babies.
• The ninth video: catches a Planned Parenthood medical director discussing how the abortion company sells fully intact aborted babies — including one who “just fell out” of the womb.
• The 10th video: catches the nation’s biggest abortion business selling specific body parts — including the heart, eyes and “gonads” of unborn babies.The video also shows the shocking ways in which Planned Parenthood officials admit that they are breaking federal law by selling aborted baby body parts for profit.
• Unreleased Videos: Unreleased videos from CMP show Deb Vanderhei of Planned Parenthood caught on tape talking about how Planned Parenthood abortion business affiliates may “want to increase revenue [from selling baby parts] but we can’t stop them…” Another video has a woman talking about the “financial incentives” of selling aborted baby body parts.
• The 11th video: catches a texas Planned Parenthood abortionist planning to sell the intact heads of aborted babies for research. Amna Dermish is caught on tape describing an illegal partial-birth abortion procedure to terminate living, late-term unborn babies which she hopes will yield intact fetal heads for brain harvesting.

It’s not easy to resist the threats and the hysteria that surround us, but we must do, as fear is the greatest danger to open society

Open societies are always endangered. This is especially true of America and Europe today, as a result of the terrorist attacks in Paris and elsewhere, and the way that America and Europe, particularly France, have reacted to them.

Jihadi terrorist groups such as Islamic State and al-Qaida have discovered the achilles heel of our western societies: the fear of death. Through horrific attacks and macabre videos, the publicists of Isis magnify this fear, leading otherwise sensible people in hitherto open societies to abandon their reason.

Scientists have discovered that emotion is an essential component of human reasoning. That discovery explains why jihadi terrorism poses such a potent threat to our societies: the fear of death leads us and our leaders to think – and then behave – irrationally.

Science merely confirms what experience has long shown: when we are afraid for our lives, emotions take hold of our thoughts and actions, and we find it difficult to make rational judgments. Fear activates an older, more primitive part of the brain than that which formulates and sustains the abstract values and principles of open society.

The open society is thus always at risk from the threat posed by our response to fear. A generation that has inherited an open society from its parents will not understand what is required to maintain it until it has been tested and learns to keep fear from corrupting reason. Jihadi terrorism is only the latest example. The fear of nuclear war tested the last generation, and the fear of communism and fascism tested my generation.

The jihadi terrorists’ ultimate goal is to convince Muslim youth worldwide that there is no alternative to terrorism. And terrorist attacks are the way to achieve that goal, because the fear of death will awaken and magnify the latent anti-Muslim sentiments in Europe and America, inducing the non-Muslim population to treat all Muslims as potential attackers.

And that is exactly what is happening. The hysterical anti-Muslim reaction to terrorism is generating fear and resentment among Muslims living in Europe and America. The older generation reacts with fear, the younger one with resentment; the result is a breeding ground for potential terrorists. This is a mutually reinforcing, reflexive process.

How can it be stopped and reversed? Abandoning the values and principles underlying open societies and giving in to an anti-Muslim impulse dictated by fear certainly is not the answer, though it may be difficult to resist the temptation. I experienced this personally when I watched the last Republican presidential debate; I could stop myself only by remembering that it must be irrational to follow the wishes of your enemies.

To remove the danger posed by jihadi terrorism, abstract arguments are not enough; we need a strategy for defeating it. The challenge is underscored by the fact that the jihadi phenomenon has been with us for more than a generation. Indeed, gaining a proper understanding of it may be impossible. But the attempt must be made.

Consider the Syrian conflict, which is the root cause of the migration problem that is posing an existential threat to the European Union as we know it. If it was resolved, the world would be in better shape. It is important to recognise that Isis is operating from a position of weakness. While it is spreading fear in the world, its hold on its home ground is weakening. The United Nations security council has unanimously adopted a resolution against it, and the leaders of Isis are aware that their days in Iraq and Syria are numbered.

Of course, the outlook for Syria remains highly uncertain, and the conflict there cannot be understood or tackled in isolation. But one idea shines through crystal clear: it is an egregious mistake to do what the terrorists want us to do. That is why, as 2016 gets underway, we must reaffirm our commitment to the principles of open society and resist the siren song of the likes of Donald Trump and Ted Cruz, however hard that may be.

We eagerly await The Donald's tweeted retort, which will surely propel him even higher in the GOP primary rankings.

Report: 191M voter records exposed online

Security bloggers and researchers claim to have uncovered a publicly available database exposing the personal information of 191 million voters on the Internet.

The information contains voters’ names, home addresses, voter IDs, phone numbers and date of birth, as well as political affiliations and a detailed voting history since 2000.

While in most states, voter registration lists are a matter of public record, many have regulations restricting access and use.

For example, South Dakota requires those requesting access to voter data to confirm that the information “may not be used or sold for any commercial purpose and may not be placed for unrestricted access on the internet.”

Security researcher Chris Vickery discovered the breach and reported it to DataBreaches.net, which has since reached out to law enforcement, as well as the California attorney general’s office.

“When one of their attorneys asked, ‘Well how much data are we talking about?’ and I read her the list of data fields and told her that we had access to voter records of over 17 million California voters, her response was ‘Wow,’ and she promptly forwarded the matter to the head of their e-crime division,” writes DataBreaches.net’s anonymous admin.

Steve Ragan, a security blogger for the security and risk management website CSO, has alsoinvestigated the breach, noting that none of the political database firms he identified and reached out to in connection with the database claimed ownership of the IP address where the files are posted.

“What Vickery has discovered is worse” than the recent breach of Hillary Clinton’s voter data by a member of Bernie Sanders’s campaign, Ragan writes, “because the data he discovered isn't a client score — it's a complete voter record for 191 million registered voters.”

“The problem is, no one seems to care that this database is out there and no one wants to claim ownership,” he says.

Because some states charge high fees for access to voter data, campaigns often turn to third-party vendors to purchase huge swaths of information at a lower price. They can then use the information to develop sophisticated data sets to help them gain an edge, much the way President Obama’s campaign did in 2012.

The exposed data set, for example, could be used as the backbone of a database for an issue-oriented campaign. Such databases can contain deeply personal information, such as whether you’re a gun owner, religious or believe in abortion.

Such information can then be used by criminals to target victims of the breach.

A police officer speaking to DataBreaches.net said that he intentionally keeps his address and other personal information off of the Internet to protect his family.

“I deal with criminals every day who know my name,” he told the site’s admin. “The thought of some vindictive criminal being able to go to this site and get my address makes me uncomfortable.”

Both Ragan and DataBreaches.net believe the dataset originated with the third-party vendor Nation Builder but that the poor configuration that resulted in its exposure was done by a customer that purchased the information.

“Nation Builder is under no obligation to identify customers, and once the data has been obtained, they cannot control what happens to it,” Ragan writes.

"While the database is not ours, it is possible that some of the information it contains may have come from data we make available for free to campaigns," Nation Builder CEO Jim Gilliam said in a statement acknowledging the breach. "From what we've seen, the voter information included is already publicly available from each state government so no new or private information was released in this database.”

Privacy experts have warned that unlike the commercial sector, campaign data remains a kind of Wild West, with the candidates under no obligation to safeguard the information.

There are several major discrepancies between how campaigns and the commercial sector are expected to handle personal data — in some cases putting voter information at risk.

Campaigns are largely exempt from many of the communications laws that apply to businesses, such as anti-SPAM laws.

It’s also unclear who would have responsibility for oversight of campaign data collection. There’s no consensus on what federal agency, if any, would take enforcement action against a campaign in the event of a hack.

Some question whether commercial standards for data protection are adequate for voter or campaign data, since the information given to campaigns is often far more personal than a credit card number.

“Is the commercial standard sufficient for politics?” Ira Rubinstein, a fellow at New York University who has written extensively on privacy in the big data era, asked while speaking to The Hill for a previous story on this topic.

“We’re not talking about which sneaker I want to buy. We’re talking about exercising the right to vote as a basic democratic right.”

The database is currently still live, according to a Monday morning post on DataBreaches.net.

The past year has been difficult for Turkey in many aspects - ranging from the fight against the Kurds to the attack on the Russian plane and subsequent conflict with Moscow. The next year will hardly be any easier, journalist Thomas Seibert wrote for Tagesspiegel.

Why 'Turkey Can Easily Become a New Syria'

In his opinion, the country may expect challenges on several fronts, particularly, in domestic policy. Most likely, the Turkish authorities will continue their persecution of journalists and other critics of the government who allegedly insult President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the journalist wrote.

In December, it became known that the Turkish authorities convicted three journalists of the Turkish newspaper Birgün for their article in which they called Erdogan a murderer and a thief.

Seibert also stressed that the possibility of an escalation of the conflict between the Turks and the Kurds is very high.

With regard to the Syrian conflict, he argued, Turkey will have to recognize that its original purpose, namely, the overthrow of the Assad regime, is causing distrust among many parties involved: not only Russia and Iran, which support the Syrian government, but also Turkey's Western partners, whose position on the matter does not correspond with the objectives of Ankara.

For example, the US cooperates with the Syrian Kurds in its fight against Daesh terrorists, while Turkey views the Kurds as its most serious enemy, Seibert wrote.

According to the journalist, difficulties are awaiting Ankara in its relations with the European Union as well. Brussels admitted that the EU needs Turkey to deal with the refugee crisis, but Ankara seeks to get much more in return, including a visa-free regime with Europe and assurances of their future membership in the union.

In the long run, the goals of the EU and Turkey may become incompatible and result in the deteriorating relations between both parties, Seibert wrote.

The State Department is counting "bringing peace" to Syria as one of its wins in 2015.

A boastful recap of the State Department’s accomplishments, written by spokesman John Kirby, includes the bold subheadline of "Bringing Peace, Security to Syria" above a more modest entry talking about U.S. aid for those affected by the country's turmoil and the U.S. push for a political transition from President Bashar Assad.

While Secretary of State John Kerry has played an integral role in the Syrian peace talks, the country remains embroiled in a nasty civil war and terrorized by the Islamic State.

“The United States and many members of the international community have stepped up to aid the Syrian people during their time of need — the United States has led the world in humanitarian aid contributions since the crisis began in 2011,” Kirby said.

Kirby wrote that the Syrians have “borne a heavy load” but that under Kerry’s stewardship the United Nations passed a U.S.-sponsored resolution to create a road map for Syria going forward.

The apparent declaration of a win echoes comments from President Barack Obama, who has been heavily criticized for calling the Islamic State a "JV team" in a January 2014 article and for calling the group's territorial expansion efforts "contained," just days before the Paris attacks.

Kirby also explicitly touched on the Islamic State, also called ISIL, saying that the U.S. is “winning [the] fight against violent extremists.”

“Although challenges remain, we have made positive strides over the last year, including in our fight against ISIL,” Kirby said. "This forward progress will only continue as more countries pledge resources to the anti-ISIL effort and as citizens around the world increasingly reject ISIL's misguided ideology.”

Kirby cited the White House Summit on Countering Violent Extremism, hosted in February, which he called “monumental.”

Other things the State Department is counting as wins: re-establishing ties with Cuba, protecting the Arctic, clinching the Iran nuclear agreement, stopping the Ebola outbreak, committing to U.N. development goals, securing a free trade deal, preserving ocean health, and reaching the climate agreement.

Would you post a sign announcing that your home is a gun-free zone? Would you feel safer? Criminals don’t obey these signs. In fact, to criminals, gun-free zones look like easy targets.

In the Tuesday Tribune, Edward Lawlor argued such signs make us safer. He claimed the research of one of the authors here, John Lott’s “More Guns, Less Crime,” has been “refuted.” But he ignores that more than two-thirds of the peer-reviewed research by criminologists and economists that look at national data support those findings and that not a single study finds a bad effect on murders, rapes or robberies.

Since at least 1950, all but two public mass shootings in America have taken place where general citizens are banned from carrying guns. In Europe, there have been no exceptions. Every mass public shooting has occurred in a gun-free zone. And Europe is no stranger to mass shootings. It has been host to three of the six worst K-12 school shootings and by far the worst mass public shooting perpetrated by a single individual.

With dozens of cases where permit holders have clearly stopped what would have been mass public shootings, it is understandable that killers avoid places where they can’t kill a large number of people.

What might be surprising is how killers often openly talk about their desire to attack where guns are banned. The Charleston killer’s first choice was to target the College of Charleston, but he chose the church instead because there were armed guards at the college.

Just a few months ago, the diary of the Aurora, Colo., “Batman” movie theater killer, James Holmes, was finally released. He turned down his first choice, an airport, because he was concerned about its “substantial security.” Out of seven theaters showing the Batman movie premiere within 20 minutes of the suspect’s apartment, he attacked the only one that had banned concealed handguns.

Or take a couple of cases from last year. Elliot Rodger, who shot to death three people in Santa Barbara, Calif., explained his own choice. In his 141-page “Manifesto,” Rodger turned down targets because he worried that someone with a gun would cut short his killing spree. Justin Bourque shot to death three people in Canada. His Facebook page made fun of gun bans, with pictures of defenseless victims explaining to killers that they weren’t allowed to have their guns.

Lawlor puts emphasis on polls of people who have no expertise in the area. Policeone, the country’s largest private organization of police, with 450,000 members, found that 80 percent of their surveyed members thought that letting permit holders carry at schools would likely reduce casualties.

In late 2013, Ron Noble, the secretary general of Interpol, noted two means of protecting people from mass shootings: “One is to say we want an armed citizenry; you can see the reason for that. Another is to say the enclaves [should be] so secure that in order to get into the soft target, you’re going to have to pass through extraordinary security.”

But Noble now realizes it was virtually impossible to stop killers from getting weapons.

There is extensive evidence to back this up. I joined University of Chicago economist Bill Landes in studying the effects of 13 types of gun control laws on public mass shootings from 1977 to 1999. Permitted concealed handgun laws were the only effective measures in preventing or reducing the harm caused by these attacks. Attacks occurred in those tiny areas where victims weren’t able to protect themselves.

Today, 12 states mandate that permit holders are allowed to carry guns on public college campuses. An additional 21 states leave it up to the universities. But these legal restrictions didn’t exist before the early 1990s.

Lawlor fears that students with permits will lash out violently at others, but he can’t point to one time that has happened at schools where permits have been allowed. Despite Lawlor’s concerns, there has never been a case where a student with a permit has threatened a professor over grades or anything else. The same concerns were raised for permit holders generally before Missouri enacted concealed-carry in 2004; after 10 years of experience, permit holders have proved to be extremely law-abiding.

Indeed, a study this past year by the Crime Prevention Research Center found that college-age permit holders in Michigan, Nevada and Texas (three states that break down revocation data by age) are at least as responsible as older permit holders.

Accidents over the decades are exceedingly rare. There were four accidental discharges by teachers or staff — one each at universities in Colorado, Idaho, Mississippi and Utah. All cases involved very minor injuries. None involved others getting a hold of the guns.

Gun-free zones are a magnet for murderers. But a year after permit holders are allowed to defend themselves and others, everyone will wonder what all the concerns were about.

Putin emphasized the importance of being careful when it comes to nuclear weapons, stating that although Russia has its nukes ready, it "never either swung or would never swing its nuclear club at others."


"I hope no person is insane enough on Planet Earth who would dare to use nuclear weapons," Putin said.


On the issue of foreign interference into internal affairs of countries, the Russian president said a national government's drawbacks shouldn't be a reason for an intervention.


"The most important thing is not to undermine legitimate governments, not to destroy their statehood even if it appears to be imperfect," the president said.


"I think that no one should ever impose any values, which he/she considers to be correct, on others. We [Russia] have our own values and our own ideas about justice," Putin explained.


Some countries out there have "lost a sense of reality" thinking that they could tell Russia how to conduct its politics. That isn't going to happen, according to Putin.

And nobody wants to believe us that Russia doesn't aim to re-create the Soviet Union," the president said.

Russia's Stance on Syria Not Changed: Syrian People Will Decide Their Fate

According to Putin, the West has now realized that it made a mistake by supporting an anti-government coup in Ukraine. However, now the West isn't willing to admit it.



"You cannot improve anything by organizing a coup. Has anything improved in the country? The power is in the hands of oligarchs," Putin said.


"Nobody wants to financially support Ukraine… At the same time, they [the West] want to shift the financial burden to Russia… Let's share the risks, we said. We are ready to restructure Ukraine's debt to us… They do not want to share this risk."


Putin also touched upon his neighbors on the European continent, stating that "Europe's problem is that it doesn't have independent foreign policy. At all."


"The role of Germany, which can and should act at international stage, cannot be ignored in order to change the existing international climate to increase stability," Putin said.

Obama Abruptly Waives 1980 Foreign Investment in Real Property Tax Act

The Financial Repression Authority has consistently shown that Regulatory changes which “Ring Fence” US investors choices is a cornerstone of the Macro-Prudential Policy of “Financial Repression”. Through stealth programs like FATCA and PFIC the US government has steadily and quietly limited Americans ability to take cash out of the country and to invest abroad, other than through profitable public exchange traded products sold by the financial industry.  However, it is one thing to shut the doors to American investing abroad but it is quite another to fully open the doors to foreigners! It begs the question why, why now and why the change needed to happen so urgently?

This week, as the BOJ, ECB and PBOC all continued to aggressively expand credit  the Federal Reserve was “full ahead” in the process of withdrawing approximately $1 Trillion of liquidity to achieve its December FOMC decision to increase the Fed Funds rate by 0.25%. To counteract this policy initiative and the alarming collapse in the HY & IG bond market, the US government immediately opened the floodgates to easy foreign credit in a major policy reversal. A policy decision which was rushed through congress with almost no time for congressional debate. Obviously what was not lost on the White House was the fact that the now troubled $2.2 Trillion of High Yield bonds peddled to yield starved investors since the financial crisis matches 2/3’s of the $3.5 Trillion increase in the Federal Reserves balance sheet during the same period.

FIRPTA was implemented during a better era for Americans in response to international investors in the late 1980s and early 1990s buying U.S. farmland, as well as the more publicly visible buying of trophy U.S. property by the Japanese.  The US government has now expediently waived FIRPTA.

President Barack Obama signed into law a measure easing a 35-year-old tax on foreign investment in U.S. real estate, potentially opening the door to greater purchases by overseas investors, a major source of capital since the financial crisis.

Contained in the $1.1 trillion spending measure that was passed to avoid a government shutdown is a provision that treats foreign pension funds the same as their U.S. counterparts for real estate investments. The provision waives the tax imposed on such investors under the 1980 Foreign Investment in Real Property Tax Act, known as FIRPTA.

“FIRPTA has historically made direct investment in U.S. property a non-starter for trillions of dollars worth of foreign pensions,” said James Corl, a managing director at private equity firm Siguler Guff & Co. “This tax-law modification is a game changer” that could result in hundreds of billions of new capital flows into U.S. real estate.

Foreign investors have flocked to U.S. real estate since the global economic meltdown, drawn by the relative yields and perceived safety of assets from office towers and shopping centers to apartments and warehouses. The demand has helped drive commercial real estate prices to record highs. Many foreign investors structured their purchases to make themselves minority investors and bypass FIRPTA.

REIT Purchases

The new law also allows foreign pensions to buy as much as 10 percent of a U.S. publicly traded real estate investment trust without triggering FIRPTA liability, up from 5 percent previously.

“By breaking down outdated tax barriers to inbound investment, the FIRPTA relief will help mobilize private capital for real estate and infrastructure projects,” Jeffrey DeBoer, president and chief executive officer of the Real Estate Roundtable, an industry lobbying group, said in a statement.

Cross-border investment in U.S. real estate has totaled about $78.4 billion this year, or 16 percent of the total $483 billion investment in U.S. property, according to Real Capital Analytics Inc. Pension funds accounted for about $7.5 billion, or almost 10 percent, of the foreign total, according to the New York-based property research firm.

“Foreign pensions are such a low percentage of foreign investment in U.S. real estate because of FIRPTA,” Corl said.

Investment Surges

Foreign investment has surged from just $4.7 billion in 2009, according to Real Capital. Foreign buying this year as a percentage of total investment in U.S. real estate is about double the 8.1 percent average in the 10 years through 2012.

Despite a perception that FIRPTA was a response to the wave of Japanese buying of trophy U.S. property in the late 1980s and early 1990s, including Rockefeller Center and Pebble Beach, the act was actually passed in 1980 in response to international investors buying U.S. farmland. Under old rules, foreign majority sellers had to pay 10 percent of gross proceeds from the sale of U.S. real estate as well as additional federal, state and local levies that could increase the total tax burden to as much as 60 percent, according to the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts.

The change “is a huge deal,” said Jim Fetgatter, chief executive of the Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate. “There’s no question” it will increase the amount of foreign investment in U.S. property, he said.

Warning

The FRA predicts that Americans will face significant increases in US property taxes over the next five years starting in 2016. With the change in FIRPTA Americans should additionally expect property values to increase in 2016-2017.

Clearly, foreigners, the “1%” and property owners will all gain from this, but most Americans will simply face significantly increasing property taxes on elevated asset values to fund the ever increasing government debt burden.

Americans owning a house can be expected to initially focus on their net worth being higher, and not that they once again will have even less disposable income. Some will learn painfully why the number one killer of small business is cash flow, not profits..

There is nothing more terrifying than an informed public. For those of you
touting vaccines are safe, you are half right. If you mean clean vaccines with
one virus and no mercury (don't kid yourself into thinking that they don't still
administer mercury to unsuspecting victims), it would be ideal. But vaccines are
meant to be applied when there is a threat to the greater population, which
there has never been. They are not to be applied as a mandated daily, weekly,
yearly or newborn requirement! The public needs to do the real research, even
the CDC has proved a direct correlation to Autism from vaccines. You are fools
to trust your doctors and not trust your better logic. If you choose to
vaccinate, THAT IS YOUR CHOICE - but do not lecture the rest of the higher
thinking individuals who maintain the right to choose what they put in their
bodies. You cannot force people to take tainted medicine and you certainly
should not buy into the pharmaceutical companies' ploy to use you AND YOUR
CHILDREN as guinea pigs! Grow up! Take charge of your own health. You cannot
afford to trust misinformed and paid proponents of bad medicine. If you really

VICTORY: PARENTS STOP STATE'S UNETHICAL HPV VACCINE PUSH

It took exactly one month to the day for an activated Indiana population to
turn back efforts by their state’s health department to coerce and pressure
parents, outside of law, into having their children receive the potentially
dangerous human papillomavirus vaccine (HPV). Independent health journalist,
Jefferey Jaxen, was contacted by two separate families telling of letters they
received by their state’s health departments regarding their child’s HPV vaccine
status. An article chronicling
the incidents was immediately published to raise awareness on October 5th,
2015.

Investigation revealed that the official health department letters
received did not state whether or not the HPV vaccine was mandatory. This grey
area created confusion and anger as many
states are currently moving to pass mandatory vaccination laws with
potentially severe
penalties. What was more striking was the fact that the children, who were
named in the official state letters, were found because of their inclusion into
a vaccine tracking list. The problem was that the parents never knowingly
consented to their child’s participation and inclusion onto this list.
Investigations revealed that every state has a vaccine tracking list, or
immunization information system, for children. With each step to coerce parents,
omit vital information, and unethically push vaccines on children, states are
losing major integrity.
Activated Communities are

Indiana parents, along with the American Family Association of Indiana, sent
letters, emails, and made phone calls protesting the intrusion by the State's
government into private affairs along with other vaccine related concerns
prompted by the letter. After one month, obtuse officials caved and were forced
to comply with the will of its citizens. The
(Fort Wayne) Journal Gazette reported on November 6th, 2015 that the Indiana
State Department of Health has revised a letter sent to about 305,000 parents of
Indiana children with no record of having started the three-dose vaccine for
human papillomavirus, or HPV. The revised letter now truthfully states that the
HPV vaccine is not required by the State of Indiana, information that was
previously omitted. The new letter also prominently points out that the Indiana
State Department of Health regularly reviews immunization records reported to
the state’s Children and Hoosier Immunization Registry Program, or CHIRP, andincludes a link to have a child’s
information permanently removed from the registry. Commenting on state
intrusion into a parent’s medical choice Indiana Governor Mike Pence commented,
“I think it is a decision that's best left to parents in consultation with
their doctors.”
The Greater Good for Who?
It should
always be remember that the HPV vaccines, Gardasil and Cervarix, are private
products of a corporation. Glaxo Smith Kline, the makers of Cervarix, have paid
out more that $9.1 billion in a variety of lawsuits and major convictions
since 2003. Worldwide, the damage and efficacy of Gardasil and Cervarix is being
reviewed by many regulatory health agencies and oversight bodies. In addition,
the vaccine has been the center of countless lawsuits and legal actions
worldwide. The European Union’s European Medicines Agency (EMA) has recently
convened a Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) in response to mounting HPV
vaccine damage among European Union teenagers. The SAC is looking at 13,915
cases of HPV related damage. In 2013, the Japanese Health Ministry rescinded its
recommendation for the use of HPV vaccines Gardasil and Cervarix. The removal of
these shots was prompted after mounting evidence of serious adverse side effects
and incongruent science. Japan has refused to add the shot back to the schedule
to date. A report in 2014 by
the U.S. Government Accountability Office looking at the Vaccine Injury
Compensation Program, which has paid out well over $3 billion in vaccine
damages, stated:

• “11 percent of claims filed since fiscal year 1999 were still in process
  (pending) as of March 31, 2014…”
  
• “In some instances, however, a vaccine can have severe side effects,
  including death or an injury requiring lifetime medical care.”

For
those unaware of the current battle to turn back mandatory vaccination and
secure medical choice in the United States, this move by the Indiana State
Department of Health is a major victory. It represents a previously rare
acknowledgement from a governmental body to the demands and concerns around
vaccines raised by parents. In addition, this is a win for independent
journalists and the alternative media who represents the true voice of the
people and the free expression of ideas.
